I had a BEAP offer recently and as usual I stated that whoever responded had to post on my offer and send me an email and not to use GW's email. I received a GW email from her and noticed that she had nothing on her member page and had just registerd. Since she had her email address on her member page, I sent her my address, received her stamps and sent her the seed I was offering. I don't really mind. I hope she does plant them and I hope they do well. From now on my requirements will be even more strict. I feel that everyone should take time to fill out their member page. Thanks again to Sue for all she does. She is truely GW's resident busy body! I mean that in a good way because you are always very "busy" helping every "body". jim_6b

They will (cross-pollinate), but they'll probably all come back as Heavenly Blue subsequent years...if I recall correctly. Knicking the seeds is an exercise in frustration, I just soak mine instead... Get yourself a (clean) small glass jar with a lid. Pour the seeds in and then place a couple inches of warm, but not hot, water in there and the put the lid on and give them a furious shaking. I then let them soak for a day on the kitchen's windowsill, shaking maybe once or twice more during this period. After that you just pour out the water and plant them as you see fit. The soaking helps weaken their outer shell and the shaking helps fluff it off through them rubbing against each other. Warning: Leaving them in the jar for a week will cause them to germinate in-vitro (lol!)

Hi, I'm in Central NY. Zone 4b. I've been growing Grandpa Ott for many years. I can't tell you when it will bloom, but should be in a few weeks. They will bloom until frost. I don't deadhead or give them any special care. They fill the chain link fence with blooms. Enjoy!
