I have a cherimoya and thinking of getting another and can't wait to get fruit. I'm vietnamese as well and love seeing your pics.

So I Mike from Top confirmed that Priestly fruit is supposed to be green outside and white inside. This is a Lisa atemoya. Anyone else have a Lisa tree with fruits? Please post how your fruit look like. Thanks

Great looking fruit but they do not look completely ripe. Maybe that's why they were somewhat chewy?

They are ripe. The stem area already open and it came off so easily. The fruit is also soft to touch. I don't really like it too ripe or watery. I just think it's missing something. Maybe not enough fertilizer. I really want to see other people lisa atemoya.

So that means that Mike sold you the wrong tree? Wow what a mix up. I was worried about that with my new mango but from what I have seen the other trees I have seen look the same, all though it is almost impossible to be able to tell what tree you have by just looking at the picture. I am so sorry that happened to you, that really stinks. Did you tell Mike that you got the wrong tree? Maybe they would comp you? I know from my personal experience that they didn't do much for me but something is better then nothing! Good luck!!

Yeah...they probably not going to admit they sent me the wrong tree. All along I thought I have the Priestly and it must be something wrong with container growing and not enough light or fertilizer so the fruits turn out pinkish...silly me.lol. I sent him an email but not sure if he's going to do anything or not. The thing I'm upset is that I now have 2 Lisa 48-26 tree. I don't have that much space so I only want one of each kind. Let's hope the Lisa tree from Pine will bear green fruits. :)

Ch3rri, I am thinking about getting an atemoya tree as well. How did you get your tree to fruit? BTW, those are beautiful fruits.

I got it when it was pretty large size from Top...which cost more. I also use a blooming fertilizer this summer. When it have flowers i had to hand pollinate the flowers. Just wondering if the Lisa 48-26 a sweet fruit or not.

I posted this somewhere previously on the forum. I'll post it again here to answer your question about the Lisa (48-26):

There is a long story behind the 48-26. I bought one the year it was released by Zill High Performance Plants. That was back in the mid 90's. I originally heard about it from Har Mahdeem. He grew up in the Amazon region of Brazil and was the resident annona expert conducting the breeding program for Zill's. Anyway, apparently, the 48-26 was the best of the breeding up to that time in the program and Gary Zill wanted to release it to the public for sale. Har apparently thought that it should be used for another generation of breeding before it was released, as it wasn't quite up to his expectations. Gary Zill won out and it was put into production. It was supposedly a tree that you'd have to watch as it could fruit itself to death if the fruit set wasn't thinned. I bought one. The tree grew huge. It almost never fruited. When it did fruit, the fruit were mis-shaped as the result of what I assumed was poor pollination. People kept telling me how great the 48-26 was....and I kept wondering why mine was not good. Finally, at the Broward Rare Fruit Council meeting a month or two ago......the speaker was Har Mahdeem. He's no longer with Zill. I asked him about my ill-fated 48-26. He explained that they apparently had some sort of compatibility issue with the root stock that was used to do the grafting. Apparently, since each rootstock was a seedling and therefore a unique individual, many of the trees had the same problem mine had. He said almost half produced poorly or not at all.

So...if you are experiencing fruit that is not sweet, it may be a characteristic of your particular tree. The rootstock interaction may be causing it to not be sweet. You have two trees. Have both fruited and do they taste the same? The fruits I had on my tree were infrequent, small and mis-shaped....but were always sweet. Certainly, they were as sweet as any sugar apple I have had. Temperature may also limit sweetness. Most of the tropical fruits need really warm temperatures to develop their sugars. I wonder if this could also be affecting what you are tasting. Oh well....they are beautiful looking fruits. I'd have them, just based on that.

Yes, I read that post before. I'm actually looking for pictures of the opened fruit. I have two trees but only the tree from Top have fruit because it was a larger tree when i bought it. Pine tree is actually smaller so it will take longer to fruit. Maybe it will fruit next year. I will fertilize it more and maybe peel off the leave earlier so it fruit in the spring. But somehow the flowers always drop early in the spring.

Anyone who have a Lisa 48-26, please share pictures. Thanks.

Mike from Top contacted me back and he will give me a replacement in spring since they have no priestly atemoya now. This is pretty good. I'll update again when i get my tree in spring.

Am a happy person now.

I knew he would do something. I didn't think he would go that far. I am happy for you. He seems a little stubborn sometimes but I think he figures if he does not do something he will lose you for a customer and that can be pretty expensive for him. How many of you trees do you think you bought from Top?

He did not ask for a picture. Maybe he visit this forum ..lol. Well, I ordered a few expensive trees from him. 2 sapodilla, 1 atemoya, 1 lychee. Now the sapodilla were like $50 each. The atemoya was like $70 and the lychee was like $75. I know my atemoya is like double the price from Pine but I got the larger tree. Well, you know the shipping is like $100. And what he got now is just smaller trees so what he's replacing is only half of what I purchased the tree for. I think that's why he agrees to replace. I already spent a fortune with his nursery. But we will see in spring if he keeps his words.

Glad to hear you got that straightened out. It stinks when mistakes happen like that. I have had it happen a few times to me. I got a Page Atemoya when I wanted a Gefner. Then I got an Edward mango instead of a Pim Saen Mun. Luckily, the mistakes have been pretty decent trees anyway.

Yes, it stinks. I mean if I know that I already have a lisa then i would get something else instead. Plus, I paid a fortune for this tree...another thing is the fruit is not that sweet.

I know exactly how you feel. I paid $49.99 for my first mango the Cogshell. I bought it ata nusery in FL. Now I know some people think that the nursery I am talking about is high priced but all the mango trees were the same price. I saw trees there (with the one I chose)that were 4.5-5.5 feet high! I had to chose the smaller one because I had to bring it on the plane with me. The two that I just bought one was $39.99 and the other was $49.99. I thought they were a little high but when I saw them I knew they were fairl priced IMO. I would still be fairly upset if I waited a year to three years to find out that Julie is really something else including the Lancetiila. For us who grow indoors in winter it is frustrating when we have very limited growing area, (unless your fortunate to have a greenhouse.) and we wait ALL that time to find out...Oops you did'nt get what you paid for!! I understand that people make mistakes they are only human like the rests of us, but we also have limited times to have our trees shipped. Are winters suck!! Normally where I live winter is not so bad but snow storm coming with possbile blizzards, temps in the 20's! I guess what I am getting at is it is a lot more difficult for us and that is what makes us KNUTS!! We still can do it but I fell your pain! one more strike from Top and I will not buy from them again!

Nice pictures, I also ordered a Geffner and I ended up with a Lisa, this one came labeled as Lisa. I had a few flowers that I hand pollinated but didn't set the fruit.
You said your fruit didn't taste sweet, does it get some sun?

The tree did get some sun but then they were hiding under the leaves. I took the tree in early November. The fruits were only sweet near the seed area. The flesh without seed is not so sweet. I pruned it down...maybe it will do better next year and I will pull the leaves off earlier so I can get fruits earlier. I know atemoya is supposed to be in season during October/November. But I didn't get to pick until December.

I agree with leaf removal. I have done this several times on diffrent fruit trees in the past and the results were excellent. I wish you good luck for your next crop.
