What's blooming in your yard?

I'd love to see what's blooming in your gardens Upstate. Here are a few of my favorite flowers from this week:

My white dogwood, which was rather sparse on blooms this year.

Lilac 'Wonderblue' (also called 'Little Boy Blue,' a dwarf).

The garden by the end of our driveway (a terribly tough place for plants, since it's intermittently covered with piles of snow, slush, and grit all winter, and baked all summer).

An unknown heirloom dwarf bearded (or intermediate bearded) iris, from a good friend.

No pics yet but all I have in bloom right now is the following:
Coral honeysuckle (newly added since old one isn't quite ready
Native columbine
Bleeding hearts
and two Salvia praeclara

my irises aren't blooming yet nor are my azaleas or rhody.

Violets, sweet woodruff, white and pink bleeding hearts, periwinkle, lunaria, sweet cicely, ground ivy, jack-in-the-pulpit, lungwort, celandine, forget-me-nots, apple tree, cherry tree, pasque flower (fading now), dwarf comfrey, last of the daffodils.

r. viscosum just done a week or so ago but a pink 'macrantha' azalea is gorgeous right now. it has looked better this year than i can recall, perhaps because of the recent abundance of rain.

Snow again today. I could be more self disciplined, but it does make it hard to want to exercise in this weather. I don't know about any other sites that are free; I just don't have too much to say, I guess! I am trying to make a list of plants that I want to move etc when it warms up. I tend to buy things and stick them in a bed, later realizing that the neighboring shrub is too tall or casting too much shade or everything is too close together or some such. I've got a climbing rose that I want to move for that reason (DreamWeaver). Also need to finish killing the 3 trumpet vines that I so foolishly planted (I know that will take me a few years, it has already been 2 since I cut the first one down) and also relocate a honeysuckle that is on the corner of the garage to the back gate-and decide what to put in its place. I also have 3 'Scarlet Spreader" roses that I am thinking of removing from the middle of one bed--I've just not been impressed with them--but don't know what to put in their place. That might be a good spot for a dwarf plum or cherry. Ancestry.com is what I've been using too, DiggerB. I am lucky that I come from a family (on one side) with lots of descendents who have already done a lot of work and posted it. The other side has been a real challenge and I suspect that if I want to carry it forward I will have to make a field trip up to Cleveland, or maybe Akron, to check out archives in the libraries there. Cleveland has some things accessible online only to card-holders.

rizzir, your plant with pretty yellow flowers is Melampodium. I need to do a walk-around and see what's blooming in my garden. From here I can see: 'Knockout' & 'Blushing Knockout'Roses Crepe Myrtle Rose-of-Sharon Hyacinth Bean Vine Sweet Autumn Clematis Butterfly Ginger A few straggly Black-eyed-Susans hanging on Out of sight, but not out of mind are: 'Black & Blue' Salvia 4-O'clocks Angelonia Spider Lilies Chenille Plant Globe Amaranth Celosia Cleome 'Linde Armstrong' Vinca Impatiens "Touch-me-Nots" Melampodium 'Star White' Zinnia Heliptrope Verbena Agastache Gaillardia 'Clara Curtis' Chrysanthemum a big, pretty, Rudbeckia (can't remember which one) Hardy Begonia Angelwing Begonia Spilanthes ("Peek-a-boo" or "Eyeball" Plant There are probably a few more that I'd find if I ventured into the heat to look!

Carol, I know what you meant lol. Whoever wants to start the next one can. It would actually be fun if someone different started a thread every month. Kinda taking turns :D I don't always get on the forums every day but I try to pop in every few days even if its just from my phone which I hate to type on because my keyboard is messed up from a few too many drops. Texting not a problem on it just trying to write correctly for the forums lol. I hope you do post some photos next month (tomorrow :P) Rita, did you get any rain today? We just had a little today. Of course, it didn't do it until I was outside right in the middle of potting up a few things grrr. Is your firecracker plant hardy in zone 9a? I am thinking of getting a couple for the hummingbirds. I see them on the pineapple sage once in a while. Congrats on your Grand Duke. I have Maid of Orleans which smells similar. The sambac jasmines are all so nice smelling. I read that people in Asia feed the flower buds to their koi. I should try that. halfwaythere, I love your Queen's Wreath vine. That one is on my list to get. I will probably have to protect it here in the winter but it would be worth it. Yaaaayyy! One of my gladiolas started blooming today. It is a pretty fluffy pink. I will try to get some more photos of stuff tomorrow if its not raining.

pansies, tulips, pulmonaria (lungwort), trillium, bleeding heart, sweet woodruff, forget-me-nots, tree peony, azalea, dwarf columbine, wood hyacinth, primrose, drumstick primrose, muscari (grape hyacinth), icelandic poppy, lilacs, and honesty (money plant).

Budded and blooming soon include bearded iris, jacob's ladder, peonies, globeflower, and rhododendron.

Great pictures, I love that dwarf bearded iris!

Thanks, hammerl! I'm having too much fun with my digital camera. Here's what's blooming today:

Dogwood, lilacs, Tulips, fernleaf bleeding hearts, Sweet Woodruff, violets, pansies, lobelia, late daffodils, variegated Solomon's seal, and that little purple iris is still going strong. My tall irises and columbine are budding. The peony buds are like big marbles now, and some are showing a bit of color.

This white heliotrope is from a nursery; it smells powerfully of vanilla. (For some reason, even though I resized the photo in Photobucket, it's showing up very large here - my apologies to those on dial-up!)

I love these tiny daffodils.

A better question might be, what is NOT blooming. Most of my bulbs have finished blooming. Most of my spring wildflowers are in bloom except those like Sanguinaria and Jeffersonia that are reapidly developing their seed pods. Asimina, Cornus, Viburnum, Cercis, Calycanthus. A dozen or more Rhododendrons with lots more whose buds are swelling, Kalmia is getting ready to bloom. Meconopsis cambrica is popping up all over the place, including a crack in the flagstone patio.

Very nice, gottagarden! Everything is blooming now, it seems - the peonies are starting, the irises are in full swing, various annuals are getting some good growth and bloom. It's been fun seeing new things every day now.

Sorry no pictures. My 3 Fringe trees/bushes are filling the bacyard with their heavenly scent. Dracuculus vulgaris is getting ready to unfurl their large stinky flowers. 2 Red buckeyes along with my Ruby Red Horse Chestnut are blooming.

I've been taking pictures right along this year, but this time seems to be a bit of a lull in most of my garden. I do have my clematis starting to open
