Concerning Parentage of Coconut Ceam/Lemon Zest
Comments (2)After seeing this post. I'm glad that I planted a coconut cream tree as its parent Edward is my all time favorite tasting mango....See MoreZill's Coconut Cream Mango, availability ?
Comments (12)The patent doesn't have to be issued for them to start selling. Generally they have a year from the time they start selling before they file the patent application for the patent to still be valid. After they file they still have to wait more than a year for the patent to be issued....See MoreMy new Coconut Cream.
Comments (15)I am not Jeff but I will chime in. Other than Zills, I don't think anyone could give specifics on the tree from a near maturity growth standpoint. From the fruit I have had over the last 2 years, it is a mid season mango. The growth habit, from mine and what I have seen from others, is moderately vigorous. Maybe not as vigorous as the Lemon Zest but in no way a dwarf. Its parentage are purported to be Edward/Gary, so no "condo" mango there. The best I could say, which is what I am attempting, is to keep trimming to promote branching and reducing the height as to keep it as bushy as possible without sacrificing too much production. Comments (16)Just to leapfrog back to the original subject for a sec, I had a bag of lemons that were on their way out, so this recipe was perfect timing for me. I baked two loaves last night, with almost all the same changes you made, Barnmom--I didn't have any buttermilk, so I used sour cream thinned with regular milk, and when I went to get the ground ginger, there wasn't any there. I also ran out of granulated sugar midway through (that was unexpected!), so I subbed the shortfall with light brown sugar. And also did the powdered sugar/poke holes glaze. They came out great! I stuck the extra one in the freezer last night, but it may not be there long, since we're already halfway through the first one. Thanks for posting this--it's a lovely, lemony, moist cake, and I'll make it again for sure....See Morehmhausman
