My gardening success story
Comments (10)I have taken baby steps with propagation. I have successfully propagated a weigela and a forsythia. Of course, I had many failed attempts too, but I will keep trying. I think I'll leave the part out where successful seed sowing and propagating doesn't reduce the urge/need to purchase new plants!! My husband only tolerates all my pots (I've heard them referred to pot ghettos in this forum and mine certainly qualifies) because he thinks I'll stop having to buy new plants every year. Do you know what question I can't stand above all others?? It's "where are you going to put it? Hey, I don't know where I'll put it, I just know I have to have it!!! I have plenty of garden space left and plenty more areas that can use some color. BTW, my black-eyed susans are blooming to beat the band right now, and I'm just thrilled. Although on a down note, I saw my first JB this morning. It was on my petunia!! Never seen them there before. I can sacrifice some of them because I literally have about 100 of them that self-sowed themselves. If that's all I lose to these horrible insects, then I'll consider myself lucky....See MoreRooting Hoya Leave! A success story

Comments (2)I just planted all my pepper seeds in the domed compartmented thingy at about 1/4". I got about 90% germination rate. I have heard good things about that paper towel method though and may give that a shot this next season. I think I would have done better last year if I had planted 1/8 inch deep instead of 1/4 inch. Comments (7)Well, if you do not know what it is, at least you know it is a hydrangea! And it IS BLOOMING!!!! Just keep an eye on those late frosts. Be aware that the weather folks cannot predict very well still; they need better computers... We had a 80% chance of rain and the rain system like split into two pieces. One went north and the other south of us. Per the radar, a few rains passed on top of me but, hey, it was dry when I went looked out the window and it was dry outside this morning. Time to turn on the sprinklers instead... Ha!...See Morephucvu
