My sugar apple..

How old before sugar apple fruit?....I also heard they do well in cold weather as long as is not below 35 degrees..I am in the South Bay area(Carson).Here is a shot of my sugar apple.

If the rain stops, I'll take pictures of my little one in bloom and with fruits. It is under 3' tall, and maybe 2-3 years old? It is the Golden Variety. Green ones are very fast to fruit too. Kampong Mauve seems slower, and tends to produce fewer fruits, at least for me.

There are 2 large Green Sugar Apple trees along US1 in Stuart, zone 9. They have stood up to cold, drought, and constant highway fumes for the past 8 years I've been driving past them. Tough trees, and fun to grow!

This year looks like a good one for Annonas. My Sugar Apples, Atemoyas, and my Cherimoya are all fruiting.

it looks big enough to bloom? A very kind Floridian sent me some KM sugar apple seeds a few years back. One of my smallest "trees" has three blooms on it, it is in a 1gal pot and about 1.5-2'tall counting the pot

do you fertilise? maybe a light pinch of an organic balanced fert?

Leaves drop from using an oil spray due to photosensitivity . The oil reacts with the sun and burns the dickens out of leaves . Ultra fine horticultural oil is a bit safer to use in that regard than the heavier Neem or Volck oils . Use an oil spray when fruit trees are dormant or late in the season . Use a VERY dilute solution of water to oil . Use the oil spray late in the day . Try to use it when temps will be below 80 degrees - I know - not easy in zone 10 . And the most important of all - read all the directions on the package and follow them carefully !

Hi, Beautiful trees. Thanks for sharing. I love sugar apples. I have African Pride Atemoya tree (fruited twice but something picked the fruits before they were ripe:-(..) How long did it take from seeds to fruits. We live near LA. My two yr old tree from seed is still around 3 feet. No fruits yet. Will you be able to share some seeds? If you are interested, I can send you some Sugar apple seeds from India. I was able to germinate few just recently. Thanks.

Hey Barb, How are you? Yes they are your seeds. I sent yo an email just now. I tried earlier but I must have messed up your address, so hopefully you got it now. I did not expect them to grow that quickly either but I placed them in a clean meat tray and put them in a zippy bag. I think the warmth and humidity was the reason why. Thank you so much!! If you want maybe I could send you a tree in the spring when it gets warmer. My way of saying thank you! I know the shipping wont cost me that much. Yes Joy they are the Atemoya, and yes the can get quite large but that is not a problem for me. I put them underlights indoors for the winter and put them out during summer. Right now I have a six foot tall Gardenia tree, and a good size collection of tropical fruit trees.

Looks like a great plant. :) Do y'all prune your trees? I just got some seedlings (well...they are ~24-36" tall) and they are all just stem & leaves. In the picture they are all together and supported by the same pole. I have since separated them. Are they suppose to look like this?

The pictures are of all my plants but there is one labeled Golden Sugar apple (there are only ~10 pictures).
