It's deer resistant...they've never touched mine. It's drought tolerant and performs better in droughty years than wet ones, but it's not too picky. It is the most asked about plant in my garden. I have it growing next to a pink flower carpet rose and the contrast in form is really great. The blooms last a long time. The foliage can senesce a bit after it blooms, but you can cut it back to the ground and new foliage will sprout. A very easy adaptable plant. I have the species. I know Tony Avent sells a cultivar of it called 'Kershaw Blue', but I really don't know how the cultivar compares to the species.

Hi, I wish were going to be in Washington DC during that time. I used to live there. That sounds like a fun show. And, it's free. Out here in Denver our violet and geseriad shows are in the Denver botanic Gardens. The price to get into any show is something like $7 or $8 or the price of admission to the botanic Gardens. HPF, Great pics.You have a picture of my favorite palm.The 4th picture with the two Phoenix Sylvestris palms in pots.I'm growing one in the ground,this will be it's 2nd summer there.That's a good question on the waggie,I've never seen one with that on it.My waggie has only been in the ground for its 2nd year from a 3gal. planting.It looks like the S.minors surived well.They look better on here than the T.fortuneis.I'm currious about that thing one the waggie myself.I hope someone on here knows.My money is on Jim knowing.
