Uh-oh! I didn't research enough before pruning!

First timer, loved the tomato plants too much, too soon, and without pictures to show her how... :)

I've been 'pruning' some tomato plants that I started 7 weeks before my last spring frost date. So they're now coming up on 9 weeks old. The problem is, I didn't adequately research what pruning them really meant. I cut off the two lowest side branches at first. Since then, I've been cutting off all top growth and leaving two side stems in place.

(Now that I've read the article posted here and looked at the pictures, I realized that wasn't what I was supposed to do...)

Have any of you ever made this mistake? Did the plant continue to grow and produce? I'm wondering if I've done them in--whether there's any hope of their going on to live healthy and productive lives.

Thanks.

Jenny
