Giant white bird of paradise seeds

Does anyone know what the giant white bird of paradise seeds look like? Most of the seeds of bird of paradise I have seen are pea shaped or the size of a flattened pea. I opened a pod of the giant seeds, & they were at best Â¼ inch in size. I am wondering whether they are usually this small or if the seeds are bad. They had plenty of time to ripen.

Thanks for your speedy response, Cagary. When I found the pod & saw salvia-sized seeds on the outer shell, I thought they might be dispersed throughout the pod Â like a yucca pod. Anyway, after seeing your pic, I saw three pea sized bumps on one pod, & voila Â 3 seeds. Not much for such a big plant, but I am happy for these. Do you know how many seeds a flower head normally produces? Have you ever grown this variety from seed before?

ours looked very much the same, ladybug. looks like you have a good supply of pups at the bases, tho, and it won't be any time at all before those are huge, too. we did prune off the dead and damaged leaves that we could reach and they're still all alive and looking lots better. There are so many plants now, that perhaps we should cut out some trunks (the older ones) anyway.

Hey there! I have a bunch of irises that I'd like to be rid of. I'd say there's about a dozen of them, but if that's not an equitable trade I can certainly get more (my mom and mother-in-law also have great herds of irises roaming their yards.)
