I have been growing a couple Longans from seed for 2 years now,I am told they don't like to be transplanted,so you may want to wait until grows some before moving it

I wouldn't give up just yet...Although this lychee isn't in a container and the circumstances are different...I thought it was DEAD. Sure looked it? It took appx. 15 weeks after the freeze damage before I saw a sign of life. 100% of the tree is dead on top...most of the growth are coming from the roots and top 2-3" from the bottom of the trunk. Not saying this is the case with yours...but scratching the bark is a good way to see if there is any signs of life...lucky for me its not grafted, so its fine. You can also lift the plant up very carefully and check the roots to see if it smells like its rotting or looks like its dying? Taken appx. 15 weeks after freeze damage. Today...20 weeks later I had almost given up this tree was alive.

Simon ,, that exactly what happened to me ,, i did fertilize wth NPK thinking that lychee and longan like micro nutrients ,, and i did fertilize a newly shipped plants which must have suffered a lot by themselves ,, and the result that i lost a hak ip lychee without knowing why at first ,, then now a sweat heart lychee and a biewkiew longan starts doing the same ,, hope they dnt die at the end ,, but lychee and longan seems to be very sensitive and jackfruit ( i lost 3 grafted trees to end up keeping them as seedlings cause the bark below graft didnt die ) ,, starfruit and sapodilla and ice cream bean are nice with as much fertilizer as possible ,,

Hi Tony Doe, Your Longan there looks healthy to me and with a few new branches of new reddish leaves. They look very pretty there. I'm thinking if they have new flushes, they ought to have blooms? I'm asking this question as one of mine is also sending out a lot of new flushes and I'm hoping that eventually they'll push out some blooms as well. I've been feeding them with fish emulsion, liquid compost and epsom salt. By the way, thanks so much for the link. The guy there suggested fertilizing with potassium chloride (?) I wonder if that is something you can get from Home Depot. I've read that this chemical has to be handled with cautious as it's something they use in fire crackers. But, if it works, I'm at least going to try as I can't wait to make my bloom for me this year. I don't have luck with growing longans as long as I can remember. I now realized that they are susceptible to web worm and they do not like shady areas. I planted a few of them in the south side of my yard where there are two huge oak trees overhanging and they are host to webworms. So, they died young with disease even though they were planted in the ground. Last year, I planted two more new ones in my north side with plenty of sunshine and they seem to be doing well. Here are some pictures. Biew Kiew is blooming and Kohala is sending out new flushes. Please update how your longan is doing.
