Good morning.... Delightful to see photos of Miss Mae and company this morning! Everyone is looking so happy! All that waiting rewarded. Really nice to see the light in the eyes and the beaming smiles after the year that you all have had. The little one is so serious! lol Reminds me of our DD when she was born who had a serious look on her face in many photos. She looks like she is deep in thought. Look forward to hearing about your homecoming when you are rested Gardenbug. :-) Julie...glad to hear you are getting busy with the garden. Sounds like you are going to have a great vegetable garden this year. Sorry to hear DD has knotweed to deal with. I guess I will think of that next time I am complaining about the minor weeds in my garden. Mary, what cuties! lol Very enjoyable story about Betty and Henny. My favorite is the amber colored one. .... Congrats to Annie on having her braces removed. I bet she is gorgeous! Marian...your Tommy is just so funny. I can just imagine the conversation he had with you. I wonder where cats have developed this dislike of water? The big cats in the wild have to put up with rain and I've seen some photos of tigers swimming. [g] A fox sighting! No chance of me seeing any of those in my semi-urban location. Lucky you! Saucy...that was the name of the book I was trying to come up with! No, I haven't read it. I have seen the title at the library and left it on the shelf thinking I might have to face the reality of how much my home grown vegetable crops actually cost me. I prefer fantasy over reality much of the time. lol You're having a vegetable garden this year, aren't you? ..... I discovered a patch of Poison Ivy the other day too. I thought we got rid of it last year. I continue to try to get rid of a weedy Campanula that is in the garden too and it just keeps coming back. .... We can't work fast enough here either. I was out looking around yesterday and I'm falling behind. .... Congrats on another new swarm of bees! I think you are really good at this bee keeping thing. :-) Woody...I was just checking the brick edge around our sitting area and it is disappearing under the grass. I have tried to cut corners I guess and in the end my efforts have been wasted. So you can consider that as you work hard installing your edging right. :-) Kathy...I love that Penstemon. I bought a similar one last year called 'Pike's Peak Purple'. It is coming up looking fine and can't wait to see it bloom. Your blue is so pretty, I will have to look for that one too. As far as I'm concerned, you don't have to ration the photos you post. I love to see some every time you post. I'm in a lull in our garden right now and not caught up with mulching and cleaning so photos are in short supply. When you have as successful a garden season as you are having, it would be such a waste not to take a gazillion photos!! .... Oh, and so sorry to hear about Dodger's disappointing news about Manny. I am hoping that the rest of the team can rise to the occasion. It would serve Manny right, for them to get along fine without him! Woody and Kathy....I have the same kind of soaker hoses. Sears from recycled tires, I think. Plus the quick connect on all my hoses. What did we do before those were invented!? It sounds like you both are doing about what I have been doing with mine. I leave mine on for hours though Kathy in the heat of summer. Could I really get away with less? It never looks like they are getting enough water. I wish I could fill 100ft at a time Woody, that would cut my efforts in half. Chelone...Hurry it up willya! I'm waiting for work on the curtains to begin, so the tables have to get finished tout de suite! Gee, if 12 hour days would just stop interfering. :-) Ok...I need to cut this short too. I'm missing the FB defectors too. :-) Drema...very sorry to hear about dreaded deer in the garden and a woodchuck too? Horrible! Looking for a visit from Sue with news of how the renovating is going. Greetings once again from the Queen of May. The Good Queen Mother, Queen of March, AKA Treesa, sends her Tidings of Welcome to Deni, Queen of June. Her Highness bids you a most wonderfully enjoyable month and regrets that she is unable to post her welcome message herself because she also is suffering from computer difficulties which prevent the site pages from loading. In her letter to me she related how her beautiful backyard has become a pond, thanks to what seemed like endless rain through our dear state of SC. We were treated by Mother Nature to a straight week of rain before our annual steam cooker summer heat really kicked in. On the positive side, those rains eliminated the need to water potted plants three times daily. A week's break from that was welcomed, though it did not allow any much needed planting to be accomplished. The Queen of May still owes Thank You notes to the Queens mentioned in her previous post. She is still in a whirlwind of kid shuttling and limited in her computer time. She has not forgotten any of you.

We nust bought one yesterday, old school AWn432 for 849.99 w/tax here in central Florida, 905.24. Pretty stoked! Speed Queen baby! Yes, that's hot water and it's full to the top! No pushing a button repeatedly to put in another item and it and inadvertently cancels, a-huh, yup and you get to add more soap in. Ya that's right, SQ you just lift the lid like the old days. Yippee, no more tepid 3 cups of water swishing back n forth, not getting your clothes clean and taking 74-90 minutes a load. 30 minutes baby! Doesn't sound like a freight train and purrs like a kitten! For fancier controls also comes in a toutch screen style but simple suites me. . And yes, I don't apologize - all the greenies can kiss my a$$, cause I have Clean Clothes Fast! Did I say I'm stoked! Only thing is a partial downer is the cold rinse, but I can manually turn the dial to wash, fill up with warm or hot water then turn it back to the rince cycle. Buy of the century!

Blimey, it's too long since I've been on here....note to self - must visit more often! Sheri - I read Your Inner Fish about six months ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. This month, I've read a couple of books which might interest you. First, I decided that I'd see what the creationists have to say about everything (or, at least, one of them), and read Evolution - The Fossils Still Say No! by Duane Gish. He follows the story of life as written by evolutionists and just finds holes in the arguments; his main argument being that there are no real transitional fossils. It's a very frustrating book - it just picks holes in evolution and evolutionary theory over and over again without putting anything except "Goddiddit" as an alternative. To someone with a scientific bent, it's very tedious. I was able to spot a few of his flaws, but I'm not an expert on paeleontology, so the book does give the impression that evolution is dubious, to say the least. Then I turned to Evolution - What the Fossils Say and Why it Matters by Donald R Prothero. Prothero is a professor of geology, & a fellow of the Paeleontology society. Basically, he knows what he's talking about - and boy, does it show! In the first part of the book (entitled Evolution and the Fossil Record), he discusses the scientific method and why creationists cannot be considered to be scientists (basically, it comes down to the fact that if the evidence leads you somewhere, that's where you have to go - even if the bible tells you something else). He also discussed the history of evolutionary and geological theory, and systematics - the way living things are related to each other and how they are sorted out. In the second part of the book (entitled Evolution - the Fossils say Yes!), he more-or-less follows Gish in discussing the evolution of life on earth from the beginning. The difference is that he demonstrates, with dozens of examples, that the fossil record is far more complete with literally hundreds of transitional fossils between "kinds". He also takes the time to bad-mouth creationist quote-mining and their misapprehensions about evolution - he goes as far as accusing them of downright dishonesty in a lot of their books. It's a magnificent book, and I frankly don't understand how anyone could read it and still believe in young-earth creationism and flood geology. I'd thoroughly recommend Prothero - it's one of the best non-fiction books I've ever read on any subject. If you wanted to read just one book about evolution, to understand exactly what it's all about, and why the creationish arguments are so flawed, I can't think of a better one. It's worth reading Gish in parallel to see how dishonest a so-called scientist (he has a PhD in Biochemistry) can be - more-or-less HAS to be - when they are starting from a premise which they are not allowed to challenge. (The only down-side to Prothero is the fact that it's a BIG book - it's not one you can slip in your...

thank you for the most generous box of beautifully wrapped goodies.

i've already hung out the windchimes - one is a decorative glow in the dark butterfly and the other a filigree type cross. since i'm struggling tonight with "what's for dinner", the cookbook will certainly come in handy. i'm enjoying going through that now.

the garden stone found the perfect place as the based of my lamp post.

i love each scent of candle that you sent - gardenia, rain and lilac - three of my absolute favorites.

my son thanks you for the bag of hershey kisses. he brought in the box, waited to see what was there and was positive they were meant for him! lol

thank you ever so much for an absolutely fantastic box of gifts. i really appreciate them all.

I'm glad you liked the things I picked out for you. I had most of that bought before the RA hit. I wanted to share a plant from my garden but that didn't work out. I got the cookbook at the friends of the library sale. It was supposed to be a new copy of an old book that the book store donated. I just glanced through it quickly, I didn't see any library stamps on it, so I'm hoping it wasn't used one. If it is used, I'm sorry.

Speaking of nicely wrapped gifts, I loved the wrapping on my gifts. I had never seen any like that before.

debbie. i know that wrapping was for a different occasion, but the fact that it had your name on it and spelled your way, i could NOT resist! the book is fine. i'm good with used books too. i have many books with the library stamp in them its crazy. sometimes when i lend them to friends, they ask if i want them to just return it to the library.

as for the plant, no worry. i totally understand how that can sometimes be impossible, given the RA. you are always in spirit with the things you send me. i'll have to get a picture of the puzzle and post it. that always makes me think of you and smile!

alison/dawiff took august, i believe. i think andrea chose not to play from the beginning. mariann, will tina still be playing since she's no longer a part of garden web, do you know?

once mariann/galium answers, i'll send you both that you are missing.

as for anyone else that wonders what to send - i would love a piece of your garden to add to mine.

a big thanks to sue g. what a great box of plants. i love each and every one of them and they arrived so healthy. the kalanchoe is in bloom!

thanks so much for the variegated ivy. i lost the last little bit of what i had from last year and was going to pick some up, now i don't have to!

sue also sent me a walking iris and a root beer iris (i love root beer and i love iris ~~ the best of both worlds!!!!!). i also received two cactus/succulents and three of the neatest tile plaques - i already foun the perfect spot for them.

is the picture from the card your garden, sue? i just love it.

i received a second box today from mariann, containing some wonderful plants, all of which arrived in quite healthy - both in looks and size! WOW

night blooming jasmin, which i never had or thought i wanted until i started seeing it in bloom and smelling it's fragrance.

Razzmatazz coneflower will be a welcome addition. I have a few coneflowers and thought of getting some on that coop, but changed my mind. (you must have read my mind!)

Amazing that you would include the lemon frost creeping thyme and the lemon verbena...both of these i can scratch off my "buy me" this year list.

mariann, the painted flower pot plant tag is just fantastic. i love it. i'm stealing your idea. i have all those size pots and wonder what the heck i will ever do with them all...now i know. (you should copyright your idea ~~ too late LOL)

thanks so much for a wonderful box in celebration of my birthday. i certainly appreciate everything.

Received a box of goodies from Ann today. Big thanks for all that you stuffed into that box!

Ann sent me some excellent reading material: a few editions of Taste of Home, magazine ~ Country Woman ~ which i have never heard or read and am looking forward to it. Also the May edition of the Daily Word.

Also included in the box is an assortment of seeds; a massive bag of pink glads (just perfect...all mine rotted away); a set of bowl covers; votive cups and candles; a mint scented candle in a mug; hand sanitizer (that I immediately placed in my garden organizer); plant tags and a mini jiffy greenhouse. Ann also sent me a wonderful wind chime which is already hanging out front and a nice big bag of lindt lindor truffles (i have just learned the appreciate these - YUM!)

Ann, what a wonderful box of goodies - a little bit of everything - which I am and will continue to enjoy!

Thanks so very much for adding to my special month.

I received yet another box today and this one was from Debby.

Included were some more reading materials -- cooking, my flip-side passion!

First up, Gifts in a Jar (what a great little book and it includes labels). Halloween Treats and Crafts; a cake decorating pamphlet and a wonderful Smith and Hawkin Gardener's Community Cookbook I just started scanning the book, but will sit later with a cup of tea and read through it.

Debby also inlcuded dahlias (which i thank you for, silly me never picked mine out of the ground last season). I will be growing these in pots so i don't forget this year. PomPom Dahlia Stloze Van Berlin; Arabian Knight and Rosella. Some oxalis bulbs and a double red begonia.

Thank you for the wonderful box Deb, I will certainly enjoy everything for quite some time to come. I am certainly looking forward to reading the cookbook...what a welcome addition to my collection!

Thank you also for your birthday card and well wishes.

It is nice being queen :-)

want to thank everyone who remembered me and added to my birthday month. today/yesterday (for some) was my actual birthday. i had a great day from start to finish.

i'm wondering if anyone has heard from alison. i sent her email, never heard back. wondering how her mother in law was fairing. i know she wasn't doing to well.

you're next, right? who follows afterwards? i can't find that email mariann sent out.

monica, i was away for the weekend. the mailman just delivered my friday, saturday and today mail. the box is here.

thanks so much for all the goodies. a great assortment of garden items. i just love it all.

'bug' hooks, seeds, plants - purple coneflower and pink charm daylily, persian buttercup bulbs, jasmine scented party lite candles and votive candle holders (which are just lovely) and the neatest garden frame.

ginger, thank you every so much for the wonderful box. what nices surprises.

i received a gnome garden stake, which will look great in one of my beds that is full of gnomes and boots. sounds strange, but it works! lol thanks also for the hummingbird feeder. i'm desperately trying to attract these birds, so this will certainly help.

i just love the regional/church cookbook. i've already picked out a few recipes i want to try.

i hope to get the assorted asiatics and the daylily (pardon me) planted tomorrow.

i really appreciate everything you sent me. thanks so very much for the the wonderful birthday gifts!

Maryanne, I'm glad you liked the box. I hope the plants will grow. We are having a "moderate" drought here(that's what they are calling it). The temps have already been in the 90's that usually doesn't happen until July. I'm having a hard time keeping everything watered.
