Philodendron Selloum in full sun?
Comments (7)Hi Have a Selloum planted on the N. side of the house since 82. lol Has handled everything Ma Nature has dished out over the years with almost no care. One drawback. It is a clumper and requires serious pruning every now and then. As to "black Magic" it does best in full sun but must have either standing water or very moist soil. It will grow in shade but leaves are not nearly as dark. If you have reliable water great, if not there are many ,many other species of Alocasia that prefer drier locations. One word of warning some get downright gigantic and some are downright invasive lol. Black magic is gorgeous in a water garden lol gary...See MoreNew philodendron selloum suddenly covered in splotches
Comments (5)Hmm, thanks! I've used it on other philodendrons with no problems, but perhaps this plant was already stressed. Do you think it's odd that if it's the spray, it only seriously effected one leaf, and a older one at that? There were brand new leaves on it too, and they look fine. I put it outside for the time being, I don't want to bring it back inside until I feel confident about what this is. Thanks for your help!...See MorePhilodendron Selloum bugs!
Comments (2)are these indoor plants that were outdoors for summer??? i usually treat all my summer outdoor plants .. outdoor in early fall... with a systemic insecticide ... so that when i bring them indoors ... they are bug free ... MI winters are to long.. to be dealing with vermin in the house ... many peeps dont like to use said products indoors in winter ... so your only option is bare rooting and repotting ... i would get a high quality potting media .. not MG ... i would dampen it properly.. and then i would sterilize it ...i learned not to rely on whatever the bag claims ... do it again ... http://tipnut.com/sterilize-soil/ since you have it out of the pot.. it might be a good time to get a slightly bigger pot ... if not.. wash out the old pot with 10% bleach ... repot.. and be rid of your interlopers ... harmless or not.. i dont want bugs in my house ... you might get a lot of info.. in the houseplant forum ...and if outdoors.. the container forum ... ken ps: if your grow these outdoors ... in your zone.. ignore them ... there arent an issue ......See MorePhilodendron Selloum rot
Comments (3)It turned out that it was bacterial blight. Leaves are turning into mush and falling one by one. My plant has a remainder of 5 leaves including the newest one. Is there any way I can save this plant? I was thinking about defoliating the plant and leaving one leaf on it, would this work??...See MoreJohnnieB
