Extry, Extry, Read All About Martha's Favorites

Hi.

I just got the new MSL magazine containing a tomato-rating article. Naturally, that was the first one I read! For taste, the tops were: Green Zebra (one of my favs) for its tang, Big Rainbow for its melony flavor, Juane Flamme for its complexity (which I'm growing for the first time this year), and then three currant types -- Alberto Shatters, Matt's Wild Cherry and Sara's Galapagos (all untidy plants but with flavor "the essence of tomato-ness"). Judges included the big M herself, farmers and chefs.

You can download tomato-tasting cards off the website, which might be fun come September in my Seattle area neck of the woods.

Your reporter,

Rain
