Spotted Cucumber Beetle eating tomatoes!

I have yet to enjoy a single tomato from my garden for the second year in a row. My tomato plant is lush and beautiful and full of large, green tomatoes. But right as they start to ripen, spotted cucumber beetles eat them up. I have a tomatoes that looks like a human took a bite out of it but I can see the beetles inside the tomato. I have researched the internet and can't find anything about this problem. I do not like to spray my veg with anything, but at this point I'm ready to do what I can to get some tomatoes. The plants are heirloom Cherokee red. Help! Thanks.
