Getting ready for winter

Hi

The garlic is in (I put it in where the blighted tomatoes were in hopes that it would take care of any remaining fungi spores our cold winter misses. And also to remind me where NOT to plant tomatoes next year.) and so are some spinach seeds for an early spring harvest---I hope. Brought in some herbs for a sunny window sill.

Is there any benefit adding compost to the rest of the beds now, as opposed to March or April?
