post-septoria yellowing, dying // charcoal-ish droppings (images)

After all the rain we got, my three cherry tomato plants (and my three pepper plants) got septoria. I trimmed off the affected leaves, and they've been recovering pretty well.

But of course, if it's not one thing, it's something else. Now, the leaves on all the tomato plants are yellowing, then browning, then dying. One leaf is turning white. The number of blossoms has plummeted--but perhaps that is due to the rain?

This is probably unrelated, but I've also noticed black charcoal-like droppings on the leaves of one of the tomato plants and all of the pepper. I don't think it's a hornworm, because these droppings are much more prevalent on the peppers than the tomatoes. We had a hornworm last year, and I see no evidence of the amount of destruction he did to our leaves, and the droppings are not the grenade-like shape that I remember from a year ago.
