Rain questions regarding the swap

Ok, I have seen it posted before that the show will go on rain or not right? So in case the weatherman's on the money with his 70% for rain and it happens to coincide with swap time.. is there an alternate indoor place we'll go or are we going to outlast it in our rain gear? I'm fine either way just wanted some advice from folks who've been there and done that before. I'm sure our plants won't mind the rain..ha. Oh and the food's a question too..I doubt we'll eat in the rain!

Here's the deal. All of the picnic and conference facilities are booked so there isn't anywhere else to have the swap. We're going rain or shine as usual so bringing some rain gear ain't a bad idea! On the other hand, they've predicted thunderstorms the last two days and we haven't had squat.

As far as the food goes...Tim & Cindy have a tent/awning thing that they are going to let us use to cover the food so it doesn't get wet IF it rains. We can't all get under it to eat though.

But keep positive thoughts!!! In all the years of having the swap twice a year, we've only had rain ONCE. If you believe in the power of prayer as I do then by all means join me in praying that we have a fantastic rain-free day.

Don't let a little isolated liquid sunshine keep you from coming. Even if it does rain, it shouldn't be but a short isolated deal. The rain that's in Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas right now is VERY light.

Come on now...this shouldn't even be an issue, y'all. I'll be there, rain or shine (dressed like the Gordon's Fisherman if it's raining).

reyna1, one of my plants were identified as lemon drops. my peppers did the same thing. they began with an upward nature only to point south as the pods gained size. they also remained in that brownish stage for a short time, then as if overnight they suddenly brightened to a soft yellow color. i was following a post on sun-scald, however it appears to be a normal process as yours seem to be doing the same thing and you're talking about rain and mines was more noticable during the hotest days here. they're spindly like plants that branch from the trunk unlike other peppers...requiring support somewhat like a tomato plant, with prolific blooms once set. they're relatively mild tasting peppers. could be good for salsa. i didn't taste much lemon however. they're suppose to have a bit of a lemon taste. anyway, long post to say it's normal. LOL.

Please HELP with question regarding roof for deck!

question regarding outdoor bird feeders

Toomuchglass, you could use screen or hardware cloth (or a coombination of both) as the bottom of the birdfeeders. Or you could cover them with thin planking or tin. We have ours in the open, but we use planking over the top which also helps protect the birds as they are eating from the predatory birds. Hope this helps. Alice

Water cannot escape from this corner of the yard by running in some frontward oriented direction? If "no," and it were my problem, I would not like the idea of running an underground drain line the full length of the property. I would be considering raising the corner of the yard enough that it could drain via surface route. It looks like all the paving is on sand so wouldn't be that difficult to pull up and reset. It might even be looked at as an opportunity for creating a better patio shape. I would examine raising the barbecue grill pieces higher by building on top of what's there now with a little remodeling. A dry well would not likely solve the problem long term. Insofar as your landscape plan goes, as mentioned before I'd avoid the idea of near complete enclosure by plants. I would also clean it up by eliminating loopiness of the bed line.

I do have the full body rainsuit...lol...my grandfather was a full-blooded 2nd generation Newfoundland swordfisherman. I was taught well to prepare...lol...:)

I have a canopy tent thing I will bring too. We can fit a few folks under it.

Ok, it rained bucket on us all the way from the TN/AL line to HHSP. I'm glad a rain free day happened for the swap, I just hate for you to be right about anything Jeff...ha.'

The Gordon's fisherman made it just fine! lol...Now, the trip back was interesting to say the least...I felt like I was gonna float off the road about 10 times. Me & my 4x4 boat made it back fine though. =)
