What's Wrong with Me?

Am I the ONLY one in the universe who doesn't like the taste of Black Cherry tomatoes? It tops the cherry list of almost every post I have read, yet my garden notes on BC tomatoes grown from TSC seed sum up my taste impression in a single word: Pitouey!

So what's wrong with me?

To each his own opinion,,,I liked them..
Nothing wrong with you...just ya pallet is different than others that likes them..
I didn't care for the taste of some Brandywines..nothing wrong with me, just different.

Maybe it does better in your Southern climate. I live in the same area as Rain and the 2 times I grew Black Cherry 99% of them were tossed into the bi-weekly yard waste container. To be honest I have yet to grow a Black variety I liked. Am going to give Black from Tula a try this year.

Nothing is wrong. Many of us have been there, with the same thoughts and feelings. You have been, and continue, doing what needs to be done. I'm sure somewhere in your mind, you know that once you start, you'll lose it completely, and you really can't afford to do that now. And this may go on for a long time, then what. You need to get through each day as best you can. Sitting next to her holding her hand is more than enough. She has always known how much you love and care for her, a grand, tragic scene won't make any difference. If she is aware, she's probably grateful that at least you haven't fallen apart. There will be plenty of time to cry - the shower is the best place for that, too. It will sneak up on you when you least expect it, so be prepared when you hear a song or there's a familiar smell, you'll know. And you'll cry, because you miss her, and because you have good memories.

If your sweaters are always too small, then the answer certainly would NOT be to use smaller needles ("go down a size or 2 in the needles I use") You would need to use needles a size or two bigger -- a size 8 instead of a 6, for example. I don't at all understand how your swatches could come out the same size no matter what size needles you use. That plain doesn't make sense. Maybe you could describe how you knit the swatches? Do you always knit the same number of rows and stitches -- 20 rows by 20 stitches, say? The only explanation would be if you tighten up your knitting when you use a larger needle. You may not realize you're doing it. I would practice knitting swatches with various size needles until you get the right gauge. You will need to force yourself to relax your hands because, despite what you posted ("I have very nice tension (or so I'm told"), your tension in holding and knitting the yarn is much too tight. If your swatch is too small, your sweater will inevitably be too small as well.

No problem. Really,now it was back in the day of cca, I have a long term Wallet with a pretty big pt deck every so often I replace a few boards and refinish the whole thing. Its been up for 15 years. Sure it moves around some but Hey!!! after we are done with it the damm thing looks really good. I see some deck want ers as Lazy pure and simple they dont wash their own car,dont mow their own lawn, dont raise their own Kids, have a program for a Pet. Just not willing to Work at all on their own place and dont understand how good it makes you feel. J.

As we age, we continue to change and grow. It's a natural evolution. I'd suggest trying this new color scheme out in a room that will be easy to change; perhaps a guest room or powder room. Who knows, it may be a permanent thing . . . or you'll find that it was just a reaction from hot flashes ;^P ! But, you'll be able to get the feel of the room and know if you want to continue or back off. When we moved into this house here, I decided to go the cool white route in our living room. The walls were painted a cream color (with dark brick floors). I ordered two creamy white linen sofas and then lived with the room for a while. Funny thing is that I found myself adding dark rich colors with the accent pieces! First the dark tapestry throw pillows. Next the vases on the mantel. By and by, the room has morphed into a cool white room with dark, rich colored accent pieces and we love it. It's perfect for us and I'm still glad that I went with my gut and bought the linen sofas. I know that I can always change the accent colors if I get the urge someday down the line. My advice is to go with your gut and adapt from there if you need to. Who knows, you may love living in a Scandinavian-inspired cool colored home. Lynn

What is it that you like about a tomato, Flavor wise, texture ect. also give us an example of a full size tomato that you really like and describe why. And also provide an example of a smaller cherry/grape tomato that you like and describe why its tops to you. That will provide enough information that will allow the vast choices to be narrowed down to just a few for you.

Their a so many choices and so little garden space to try them all..... ;-) Many tastebuds here at GW to give you feedback on the above questions. I'd say get yellow submarine and enjoy it.

Black from tula is awesome.hands down..though not a cherry variety..they do well here especially in the heat.

I agree with George; some people prefer tangy over sweet, some folks don't care for the complex flavors of black maters and vice versa. That's all okay--we're all unique with our own tastebuds in our own heads ;-)

Your garden is your own--grow what you want, grow what you love.

Thank you all for your assurances of normality. Still think my tastebuds must be off.

To George: I prefer tangy over sweet, firm over mush, complex over single-note flavors. Marmande is a favorite for the first two factors, Sungold for the third (sweet but lots of fruit).

Perhaps I should try drinking a big glass of chianti with the next black tom I try. It worked for Mr. Lecter, after all!
