Ma nature is making me itchy, above 50 at night

I'm not going to be fooled by mother nature, but it seems like time to plant tomatoes in early January!

It's been like spring for the last few days here and supposed to continue for at least a week. 60's and 70's for highs and 50's for lows!

I've got trees showing a little green popping out. So I guess It will be another fruitless year. I lost almost everything last year, fruit wise and a lot of tomatoes due to a late frost.

Just wait winter is coming next week. We are warm here but Saturday winter comes back. It will get to you too so have fun while you can.

I sure hope it arrives, I found crocus blooming in flowerbed yesterday! Had a booming insect and nematode population last summer from the previous warm winter, hate to think what next year will be like if this one doesn't do some freezing too! Luckily I haven't yet ordered my tomato seed, so I can't be tempted to start them...

Hi, I am new to this particular forum but not to Gardenweb. One thing I noticed was that a lot of you talked about your dogs having hot spots - I wanted to make sure to suggest comfrey salve to you to heal those VERY quickly. I grow my own comfrey and make my own salve in quantity for my use and my 6 dogs, but you can also find it in your local natural foods store more than likely. Make sure if you put it on them you cover it so the dog can't lick it as comfrey can cause liver damage when taken internally. But the stuff is amazing. On the topic of feeding home-cooked, I have had great luck with the following when I have had a furkid with pancreatitis, or a puppy sick from tummy surgery, etc. In a large bowl I mix: 2 cups cooked brown rice 1 large jar baby food in a vegetable/meat combination any leftover plain cooked meat I have, chopped small (or baby food meat sticks if I don't have leftovers) 1 hard boiled egg, chopped 1 banana, mashed into mixture Mix and serve!

That's when it stops being any fun at all. Dawiff...I hope you brought your watery garden to the attention of the neighbor. Brother...lol. I just checked the rain gauge again this morning terrene..2 more inches of rain. So 3 inches yesterday emptied out, 3 the day before and another 2 today. 8" altogether. I wonder, when you get this much rain all at once, does it penetrate deep enough so that even if we go a couple of weeks without any more rain, that there will still be a reservoir for the plants to go to? Or do the plants just suck it all up? What I find disturbing is seeing so much water running into the streets and into the storm drains. There has been a lot being said recently about the contribution to water pollution this makes. I keep eyeing my property to see if I could funnel the overrun so that it would not run off the property, but I have such a level lot, I would have to create a depression somewhere not too close to the foundation. I suppose it would be a great place for Hydrangeas and such and I am always complaining about my dry soil. Raingardens are a big thing in the Chicago area to clean up the Lakes. I am thinking about whether this would be a nice idea instead of collecting rainwater. Actually, it is amazing to me that every summer can be so individual. Even though THIS SITE is selling something, it seems like a pretty good source of info on what may cause dandruff: scalp yeast imbalance. Click on "All about dandruff". (Note, I do not own Johnson & Johnson stock.) :) I have used tea tree shampoos in the past. They feel nice for sure, but my problem just got worse. Some shampooing alone can remove flakes and give the appearance of helping, plus that "tingly" feeling will override the itching for a while. I would definitely recommend seeing a good dermatologist. My problem was intermittent, the occurrence and severity often related to stress. It was worse in winter as the site says. In addition, the dermatitis irritated my eyes. My doctor proscribed Nizoral. This worked! There are also OTC versions of Nizoral available. I have also used prescription and OTC T-Gel shampoos as well. Luckily drandruff shampoos do lather up better than they used to. This makes it easier to use a minimum amount for savings. Do yourself a favor and go to a dermatologist. Whatever he/she recommends, you will save a lot of money and frustration from ineffective OTCs (like Head and Shoulders) and herbal solutions. Good luck!

MSN news had a slide show this morning of what might trigger psoriasis: blood-pressure medications !! It's the binder/filler ingredients in pills, such as magnesium stearate which is the culprit. With my 3-years hand rash I finally found the culprit besides my hard-well water: It's magnesium stearate coating on pills, also a component in Nature-Made magnesium pills, and a component in Nature-Made vitamin D tablets. An amazon customer reported that magnesium stearate in Align probiotic pill caused bad rash, so I stopped my magnesium pills ... and no more rash !! I'm taking magnesium oxide powder, which doesn't have the magnesium stearate coating .. so far zero problems, zero rash with magnesium oxide. That's why a few Amazon customers complained about magnesium stearate as the coating/binder ingredient in pills. The grass is starting to green up; our next-door neighbor's steers are enjoying the break. But I think in the long run it's good that the cold is coming back. We're chasing flies around the house. ARGGH!!! And yes, my packet of ML seeds is singing a siren song I am desperately trying to ignore...

Thankfully, I am able to ignore this warm streak as the calendar still says January - far too early for the mid atlantic region.

IMO, the real sucker punch was last March when much of the east coast had a 20+ day run of temps in the 60s 70s even low 80s. I fell for that one and nervously waited out an average april with a few frosty nights that had me on pins & needles.

Some potatoes that I missed are up! About 3" high. My fruit trees are budding like crazy and my clover cover crop is going gangbusters too!

Onions and garlic have sent up new leaves. I need to mow the yard because the wild onions are dancing in the wind! LOL

It won't hurt the clover, but I'm sure the fruit tress will take a bad hit.

I never thought I would be so happy to see freezing weather predicted as I am... I just hope it goes as low as they say it will! High of 26 for Tuesday. Other than my crocus I've only found a lone, self-seeded viola blooming, trees and such are all still dormant. Hope things settle into a more normal winter.

Even here, in Canada, we have flowers blooming now.
A few days of warmer weather and heather is already blooming! I am afraid to think what will happen next week when the temperature should drop to -23C ( -9F).

Getting freezing temps now. Everything that was sprouting and budding, except the clover and wild onions is brown now.

I hope the fruit trees recover!

I was afraid that if I mentioned your fruit trees and freezing, I would jinx them! I hope they recover too. Suppose it depends on how far along they were whether you'll see any blossoms later, but I think it would probably take more than this to kill them unless they aren't yet established.
