Without any hint of the kind of plant sharon is finding these insects on, I'd still have to agree with jean about the spotted cucumber beetle. Sharon described it as 'resembling a ladybug, but longer and more narrow'. I wonder what 'kind of yellow and spotted' means, lol!

Char-I have a feeling your hosta is doing what my 'Gold Standards' are doing and many others, in that they tend to almost seem viridescent, turning more green in the heat! I am no expert, and the pattern is interesting on the first set of pics., but I'm hoping that it's the thing I think it may be! I know, there are other hosta viruses, Tobacco Rattle being one, and pics. are sadly lacking of examples of hosta having it, but my impression is the patterning is much smaller on the leaves as in the one I returned the other day because it looked so suspicious to me: I'm hoping for the best diagnosis, in your case!!!

In our old kitchen with the peninsula we had one cabinet on the non-workstation side at the end near the wall (it would have been wasted space otherwise). When we moved to this house, 30 years ago, I was so excited to have a place where my little girls could get their own cereal in the mornings without me ALWAYS having to get up at the crack of dawn like they did. However, we also had 3 counter stools on that side, which meant I always had to haul one out to get down there. So in more recent years it was a good place to store things I didn't use very often. But now the peninsula is gone.

Maybe something like Benjamin Moore Pure White? I tried to link to a Google search for this color but the Gardenweb link option doesn't seem to be working for me.
