Groundhogs and deer, and other pests

Liz

I was driven out of the vegetable gardening business a few years back because of intractable problems with groundhogs. We now also have a deer population explosion and have redone our perennial garden, planting deer-resistant varieties. (That helped quite a bit.) I would like to dip a toe back in the water with veggies, though. I was thinking of trying to put a bed on stilts (a table or platform, actually) and placing a chicken wire cover on top. Does anyone have experience with this approach? Mel recommends it for disabled gardeners, but I thought it might also deter groundhogs and rabbits.
