My Abraham Darby has been giving me great blooms lately, not too many petals but amazing intensity of color

Just wanted to add that I got rid of Abe due to rust, too, here near Sacramento. I have a Lillian Austin that I wish I could find an in-ground spot for. It is currently in a big pot and happy enough. No suggestions for the colors you are looking for, though. I am assuming you are wanting an Austin rose? If you wanted yellow, I would give a big recommendation for Symphony. It is one of my best roses. Just Joey does wonderful for me, too. Frilly and beautiful. Kathy

Until you posted your message I had not seen a single on my Abe Darby. I technically still haven't. But did have a nearly single bloom on it last week. The winds picked up and the bloom went poof before I got a photo. Today I saw another bloom and this time got a photo. The following two pics were taken today and are from the same plant of Abe Darby. The nearly single bloom I saw today was on the same cane as the one from last week, so perhaps it is a sport. Janelle

Thank you, everybody!

Carol, the only thing I can say about GB is that it is fragrant. It has been sitting in a pot for years with fairly good grace, but it is not my favorite rose (just personal taste) and I have not been very diligent about watering or fertilizing. In other words, any complaints I might have are probably due to neglect. Perhaps with better care it could be a great rose, I don't know :-)
