Austin Design Question - cross post to Antique

This is a message I posted in the Antique Rose Forum concerning a design question using Austin's. Pictures are attached here.

OK, let me get out up front that I stink at design. Having said that, I have a bed that is approx. 4' x 55' and runs along the side of my driveway. The bed actually is over 6' deep but there is this odd concrete divider down the middle (sort of my own little viaduct.) What was the 1940's owner thinking?

Anyway, my desire is to lay AustinÂs down this row with boxwood in the back layer. I'm going to try and attach a photo if message will allow.

The AustinÂs (and one Romantica) in question are:

Molineux

Tamora

Charlotte

Lady Emma Hamilton

Jude the Obscure

Pegasus

Pat Austin

Crown Princess Margareta

Abraham Darby

Charles Darwin

Teasing Georgia

Michelangelo

Here is my dilemma. In LA, some of these AustinÂs may get rather large (thinking of Darby here.) The question is this, if I put these in a bed that is essentially 4Â Â 4.5Â usable space, am I asking for either (a) pruning nightmare or (b) intrusion on my driveway? I would love to have this bed in the yellowÂs / Apricots but if some of these varieties are going to give me nightmares, IÂll find another place to put them.

Any wisdom in the group willing to spend itÂs efforts on a design novice?

Thanks
