Fall and the color Orange

Orange the color, per Merriam-Webster, is defined as any of a group of colors that lie midway between red and yellow in hue. To me, Fall is must have the color orange! Pumpkins are basic orange and look good in that color.

However, roses are special in that they certainly know how to do the range of orange. There are several posters who favor orange roses and their pictures have just captivated me.

Here are some orange roses that I have in my garden.

Strike it Rich--a grandiflora that is a blooming machine. It has a light fragrance.

Joseph's Coat. This rose is in a pot waiting for my to put up a pergola. This rose ages from soft peach to a reddish color.

Just Joey is just a lovely rose. The form is absolutely fabulous.

Fragrant Memory to my eyes is unusual in the way the bloom opens and the petals near the center form a triangular shape--lot like doritos.

Outrageous. I love the way this rose glows. But it is not a vigorous rose for me so it does best in a pot.

Betty Boop is new for me and I decided to include her in this post.

Lastly, an Orange of another color.

I love your oranges! Betty Boop is lovely, what kind of rose is she? Your roses are just beautiful, they all look like sunsets or are they sunrises? Fragrant Memory is very unusual and very pretty, I like that one very much also and of course I want Just Joey also. All of your oranges are just beautiful, thank you for sharing them. Les

Thanks for the orange tour ! I'm going to have to get Strike It Rich - what a gorgeous color. Just planted Betty Boop, can't wait to see it bloom . My JJ isn't nearly as ruffly as yours, but I love it anyway !

I would love for you to take my chrysanthemums. The plants have just died down from t he frost, but the "frosted" plants show where the roots are. They are so prolific, you cannot possibly take too many to suit me. they are a pretty pink-yellow-orange, changing bloom colors the longer they bloom. Also some tall white sedums. I live just north of Elon. You might want to come right after a rain.

Yes, you can buy urea. Have you been told about the consequences? Everything that you did not write, I finished thinking for you, since I represent WHAT YOU NEED. I believe you should buy the least problematic fertilizer for the grower, and for the tree, in the long run. And, the effectiveness on the fruits is secondary. If you buy urea. - Urea causes strong branch growth. Do you want the tree even taller than it is now? - It is not known how Urea will act on boron. - Biuret 1% is a lot for citrus fruits. I don't know what the result will be. Biuret will probably hit the flowers hard, but at the same time it will hit the leaves ... You need to accurately calculate the dose. I don’t want to take it upon myself as to what dose is needed.

I live in Southwest Georgia and two years ago I planted a meyer lemon. This year it bloomed at the same time as my other citrus trees. To make a long story short, even though all my other trees are satsumas I found out at first by accident, then by research, that cross pollination will help set fruit and keeps the fruit drop down. I literally have more fruit than I know what to do with this year. My Brown Select tree has a good bushel if not more of fruit on it ripening now, and my owari trees look the same. The one down side is that I have a seed or two in my satsumas which normally don't have seeds, but my crop is literally multiples of 10s more than my best year previously. My satsumas range in age from three to six years old and they all are loaded with fruit and I did not have any real fruit drop this year like I always did in the past. My meyer is only two years old and loaded also with no fruit drop.

Great pics Char! But, that's definitely not FRAGRANT MEMORY you have there. It's a pure medium pink.

I mislabeled one of these roses....I should have known better since I have both. Fagrant Memory, a beautiful powerfully scented rose, is pink. The rose I labeled as such--4th one down--is Perfect Moment.

Love the color on Outrageous. Need to check into that one for a pot. Betty Boop is pretty but here the color fades fast. But not to worry, she's always putting out new blooms to replace the old ones. Nice hot colors for a cool Halloween day. Thank you for posting.
