A Few Blooms in My Garden

My roses are slowly recovering from the drought and summer heat. We had one night of rain since March. Here are a few blooms to share with you. Please enjoy :)

Angel Face:
With a little bit of TLC, I think it is a fighter. Even in single-petal form, it's still charming.

Bewitch

Bishop's Castle

Black Baccara:
Beautiful rose, now I just need to have Black Magic rose (LOL, I'm still trying to find a place that sells this rose. The vendor list on HMF doesn't help because I emailed them and they said they don't have it. Maybe I can buy rooted cuts from someone.)

Carding Mill:
Beatiful and dependable David Austin rose

Firefighter:
Long stem, strong fragrance, beautiful form, long vase life, continuous bloom. The red is not as beautiful as Veterans' Honor's but still is a great cut flower.

Gigi (mini rose from Trader Joe's)

Ink Spot

Liv Tyler

Marilyn Monroe:
Newly planted rose and I am very happy with it. Even with the extra thorns, I think it's one of the perfect roses.

Peter Mayle :
LOL, my 8ft Peter Mayle!

You have some beautiful roses! I've been trying to find Black Magic too. Love your pictures of the dark reds and I think the Bishop's Castle and Marilyn Monroe are just gorgeous, all of your roses are lovely, thanks for sharing.

I'm in Canada. Sometimes I get edges on ones like Madonna Arsenault and other years not. Apricot Ruffles Supreme always has them. Jean I'm not really into spiders either. The garden name for that one is 'Psycho', I'm sending it to a friend who likes those. marric

Sure love those blooming shrubs. I have become an appreciator of tree peonies after I bought a NOID at a local nursery on sale for $8 late one fall. Mine bloomed a nice pale pink. Your red one is looks lovely.

It's hard to believe that you haven't got rain since March!!!! That's terrible!!! I didn't realize it could get that bad for you.

All of your roses are sooooo lovely!!! I can easily imagine that Peter Mayle can get so tall where you are. Mine is about 4 1/2 feet (grown in a pot). That is HUGE here. Don't you just LOVE the fragrance!!!

Do you have a favorite rose (of these) for scent?

Thank you for all the kind words and the good wishes with rain. If my roses can understand, they are sure will appreciate it. On the other hand, I think sometimes they do. One time I was planning to SP one of my roses and suddenly it performed so well that I changed my mind, LOL.

@sara-ann: good luck with finding your Black Magic. I just wonder why J&P doesn't let other nurseries to propagate it even though they couldn't do it well (quality of the bare roots or meeting the demands).

@canadian_rose: Peter Mayle's fragrance is my favorite.

@prettypetals: Judy, I normally like strong colors and I "blame" you for showing me your beautiful light color roses. That's the reason I gave Marilyn Monroe a chance, and I'm glad I did :)

Bay girl so glad I could persuade you to the softer side. The strong colors are quite gorgeous too. I know what you mean when a rose starts performing well and it changes your sp plans! :)) Judy

Beautiful roses, girl!! Nice to see SCARLET KNIGHT. That's not a rose you see much anymore. And I know what you mean about the roses "understanding." I have had several make miraculous recoveries after sending them vibes that I'm thinking of shovel-pruning them! Doesn't always work, but sometimes it does.

I have Black Magic and it is a great rose. It is amazingly heat resistant. My only problem has been canker on the stems and I always prune it off in winter. It seems to be in bloom all the time.

Your photos are so wonderful and your roses look great. I am praying for rain, too. I will even leave things in the yard, like a jacket or pruner, in hopes that perverse Murphy rains on it. Funny but DH and I can bring rain to any place we ever travel to but not our own area!

BM is actually darker than my camera can capture.

Wow!!! I have utterly enjoyed your photos as much as, if not more than, your gorgeous roses, well done! Thanks to your photo now I know to steer clear from Marilyn, yikes.

What model is your camera, if I may ask?

@rosybunny: Thank you. I have been thinking about the thorns on Marilyn Monroe after I planted it too. It is currently between the garage and side gate. If the thorns are too bad, I will still keep it but will move it to a place that has less traffic.

The camera I'm using is Canon T5i. It has a touch screen and is very user friendly.
