I am really sorry for overloading forum with my pictures, but I can not keep them for myself. I'm weak, I'd love to share. That's too bad we can not transmit a fragrance.

How dare you even think of keeping BEAUTIFUL roses like these to youself. Everytime you post they get more SPECTACULAR and such a variety too. I tried to pick a favorite but to no avail, they are all just STUNNING. Please keep them coming.

Yes, it's simply aggravating to log onto the forum and be presented with all these pictures of stunning beauties, beautifully photographed. What were you thinking? I had no trouble picking my favorite, the unknown (to me) Alphonse Daudet but Marinette and Wonderstripe were close runners-up and the unknown beauty is indeed beautiful. Thank you for a wonderful treat. Please don't EVER think of not showing off your wonderful roses. Full garden shots would also be most welcome.

I took this for you, 3rd year, grafted. Kind of pathetic after seeing it through my camera lens. I HAVE to prune out many winter kill canes, not much left after that, and I like to leave that pass thru for the mailman. For sure, I thought she was a goner this spring, but there are buds now. If I had a better spot for her, I'd move it because she is such a beauty, think she gets a little BS but one of the few that requires no spray or fussing. IOW, she sprawls and does not have a nice form. I'd prefer to let them do what they want within limits, don't prune according to the rules but as necessity demands; obviously mine wants to grow toward the pot for the sun which is sporadic for most of the day. Pls pardon the mess, I'm working on it, have been working harder in the back. I gave some enormous clover by the pot a big dose of boiling water, and have that huge clump of volunteer alyssum that I want to transplant as much out of there as I can (I like them). One plant last year spread like crazy and was nice all summer. I meant to save the seed but was bummed out last fall. They self seeded like crazy after all; it should be mulched better there but the kind I like is too expensive to buy as much as I need for the front. I'm sure other growers here have better specimens, wish I knew how big mine would get if I could site her better and took more care with her. In spite of it all, she blooms generously and straight thru the season with a pause only to form more buds after deadheading. The only solution is to move her, then I don't know what I'd replace with apart from perennials, but I want a rose there.

Deanna, My Braveheart is only in its second year and it did suffer badly from that big Easter Freeze. In fact, I was starting to get worried about it, but recently it has snapped out of its post-freeze funk and is looking like the rose I was so excited about last summer. However, like my other frozen roses, it is a bit shorter this year. Just hasn't had time to get back fully into its regular growing pattern. Presently it is about 3x3, but I think it should grow to be closer to 4x4. That said, I can report that the blooms are a lovely red that stays red; it blooms fairly regularly (hopefully even better next year--if we don't have another horrendous freeze!), and the blooms are long-lasting. It's been very hot here recently, but it handled the heat quite well--a bit of a burn around the edges, but nothing too serious. (I have other roses that just about burned up completely in our 100+ heat.) As for disease, it had quite a few problems as it struggled to recover from the Big Freeze, but now that it is thriving again, I'm seeing very little disease. That is how I remember it from last summer. I think last year I sprayed it a couple times in the spring and a couple times in the fall, and that was all. I'm so happy it is returning to "normal" again because I really, really like this rose. I think you will like it. Kate

I can comment on Lady of Shallot and Carding Mill! The Lady was new to me this year, and I was impressed. She grew quickly, and got nice and big - and for a first year rose, bloomed a lot. The flowers are very lovely and unique. Mine had no disease issues this year. Carding Mill has been more problematic. The flowers are really stunning, but it never bloomed much for me. I think this was a placement issue (not enough sun), but my overall impression is that it may not be as vigorous. I ended out potting mine up, but by the time I did this it was down to one cane. But the flowers are sufficiently gorgeous that I'm ordering a new one from RU this year to try again. Incidentally, I see you mention St. Elisabeth of Hungary - isn't she pink? (I'm ordering one from Heirloom this year, and they list it as pink).

Marina, I am sure that nobody has anything against "an overload" of incredible beautiful rose photos from you here on the rose gallery :-)!

Again, you posted an amazing selection of roses, which are all lovely. I also really like that you are sharing some pictures of more uncommon or rare roses, that you usually don't see here on the gallery. I am with Ingrid and would love to see some full garden shots, too.

In this thread my favorites are Ebb Tide and Blue for You, but the rose that really knocked my socks off is Astrid Graefin von Hardenberg. Man, what a beauty this rose is. I love, love, love the color and the shape. I have to go to Helpmefind and see if I can find more info about this rose...

Thank you, friends, for your kind word and encouragement. I am sure there will be a few more pics before season ends.

Ingrid and Christina, my garden is very young - it is only two years old and, I am afraid, I didn't achieve that real 'garden' look. Nevertheless, I will definitely take some garden shots next year, when roses grow some more.

Christina, I've got Astrid Grafin von Hardenberg from Hortico in 2008. The plant was extremely weak, had only one viable cane, and I was afraid it's going to die. But, it grew nicely, and after two years it is an awesome full bush with lots of flowers. I have to mention the fragrance - it's rich old rose essence. Breathtaking.

Wesley Butterflies, I wish I could share my tips on photography with you. If I had them. I do have great camera (Nikon D90) but I use is literally as 'point-and-shoot', the pictures are credit to the camera and pure luck. For closeups I use macro lenses. I bought a book "Nikon D90 for Dummies" (that's for me) and I am planning to study it this coming winter.

Marinette has been on my list and Windermere was added after seeing it in your wonderful bouquets.

Please keep these pictures coming! I just get so excited when I see you have posted because you have such different roses from my roses. How many roses do you grow in your garden? You must spend all your time cultivating such beauties. I too, would love to see whole garden shots. Thank you for sharing your garden with us. Lesley

The Dark Lady, I went to Helpmefind to see more about Alphonse Daudet. They don't have a lot of photos of that rose. I think you should upload your lovely photo of it to their collection.

It is a treat for me to come here and enjoy roses.

Due to health problems I'm unable to garden like I used to so it gives me great pleasure to come to the Forum to see so many lovely roses.

Marina don't stop posting your roses! This time of yr when things slow down we all need stuff to look at. So it's fun to see all your beautiful pics. And you're killin' me every time I see one of your photos of BLUE FOR YOU! I can hardly wait til I get mine from Cliff!! That thing looks "bluer" than RHAPSODY IN BLUE!

Marina, thanks for the info about Astrid Graefin von Hardenberg.

I looked the rose up at Helpmefind and the photos there are also very pretty. This rose moved on my wish list just for the color alone, but because you are saying it has a great old rose fragrance it is an even easier sell.

The only thing that I am not too fond of is to order it from Hortico, but they still seem to be the only vendor who is selling it in America... If anyone is reading this and knows about another vendor where to get it from, please drop me an e-mail and let me know.
