An the praying mantis is so cute! I had one looking in at me from my window at work a few weeks ago. Every time I would tap the glass, she would move her head a little in response :)

Magical and totally graceful roses as always Marina. And I love the praying mantis acrobat pose! Marina, can you tell me how large your Ivor's Rose grows to... Jim thought yours was very lovely! And he tried to look it up elsewhere for growth information, but HMF says 6'7"??? but at Dave's Garden only 36"-48"...He loves your photo of it! I'm also going to ask him if he'd consider your Elizabeth Stuart....His wife hates the standard soft ballet pinks and subtle rose pinks, but maybe she might take an unfading apricot....and definitely Ivor's Rose is a dark enough magenta-pink

Do you mind me asking you what you fertilize with and do you spray for blackspot?? I am always curious what others use and how often and like trying other peoples choices. Thanks, Judy

Judy, I fertilize once a year (at best) with a handful of 10-10-10 and Epsom salt in the spring. Also, if I have anything organic (bought on clearance sale), I add a handful of this, too. That is it.

I didn't spray my roses for about five years now. I do have my Black Spot champions here, but some roses show some BS resistance. I can not brag about my roses being free of disease (BS), but it is not crucial. I am still thinking about starting regular spraying program next year (although I made that promise to myself probably for three or four years already).

Serena, I tried to make a picture of the bush of 'Ivor's Rose' today. It might look not so well on the picture, but it definitely looks much better in person. Also, I took a good look at the foliage today. It is superb, absolutely clean. Amazing.

Krista, just today I was passing by my 'Martine Guillot' and took a whiff. I can not confirm that it is a Gardenia fragrance, but the fragrance was very nice, kind of smooth and deep, very complex to my nose to determine a definite note.
