Seil, you are the reason I have ordered Angel Face. The photos of yours are just wonderful! You say yours is very hardy, thus can I expect little cane dieback? The space I have it planned for gets quite windy. Secondly, I will definitely need to find a new place for Memorial Day if it gets 6-8 feet so I am glad you mentioned it. Also, I was under the impression that Cherry Parfait and Fire & Ice are the same rose (HMF has the names linked I believe). Are the two you mention very different? Kate, Regarding my list, I am sure I will be on here complaining after spring planting but the catalogs kept on coming! Thankfully I started digging holes in the fall and got through some, now just need to watch the dogs out in the yard with the snow cover so they don't accidently fall in! Doodles, I tried to stagger all of my deliveries (I have ordered from Palatine, Regan, DA, Chamblees, RVR, Heirloom, and RU) and pretty much don't plan on sleeping, eating, or bathing until I am done (although if this goes like my 2013 resolution, I am in trouble..). You and I both have a lot of work to do! Michael, I was way off for Tess. I assumed the HMF listing of 3'-8' would mean it would be closer to 3' in my zone so it definitely gets moved! Thank you! I was spacing 36" on average so most of these plans should work Lsst, when you say C.Marlowe has a delicate look does that mean you would suggest moving it toward the front of a bed to enjoy it versus further back? garliclady - thanks for the information on the varieties that work for you. I ordered a one pound sampler from Charley's Farm. It arrived today, and the garlics are beautiful. I got: Asian Tempest, Gigantus (Rocambole), Chesnok Red, Polish Hardneck, Early Red Italian, Thermadrome and Silver White. All in all, I am very pleased with the good variety they sent, and I have taken one clove of each to taste. So far, I am much impressed!! :) The bulbs are all fresh and large. I have sent an inquiry to a grower for some Music if they have any left....I really would like some good large true garlic. I also have about a dozen huge cloves of elephant garlic that I grew myself, which I will plant next month, but I'd really like at least that much more of it. Trouble is, it's so darn expensive. What I grew was from an organic clove I bought at the grocery store. If you should happen to find out when the garlic festival in MD will be, and where, please do let me know. Thanks so much

I have purchased from just about everywhere in order to feed my addiction....lol. When I first started out I gave no consideration to anything but a pretty face and ordered whatever from wherever. Now that I have hundreds of daylilies I've kept note of which ones are my best and worst performers and where I got them from. With the exception of Blue Ridge (whose plants were huge when I received them and still the biggest and most vigorous)...bigger isn't necessarily better when it comes to daylily fans. Most of the ones from southern growers were huge and have dwindled down not only in size but vigor. Northern grown plants came smaller in size but have bulked up. Of course there are always exceptions and I have some that came from the south or California and are great plants.....but the majority from warmer climates just aren't the stars in my garden. I don't have to worry about rust here (zone 4) but hardiness is the biggest concern and which ones will bloom the most in my shortened season. If they barely survive my winters I end up losing fans or the entire plant and those that struggle end up composted. I used to mail-order exclusively but now I visit local daylily farms (New England in general) and see what does well and base my purchases on performance and vigor mostly. Celeste
