'Feedback' forum, or attached to member profile needed

I need to know what to do since we have no 'feedback' forum here at GW.

Have you been screwed on an exchange here at GW? Or have you been in a "Disappearing Robin?"

"Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me" goes the saying.

We have no feedback forum. How do you 'find out,' or 'share' the information with others if you know someone is trolling the boards and 'not playing nice' in exchanges? How do those of us who are fair-game-players protect each other from people who are just out to ruin it for the rest?

Letter to GW has been sent requesting some sort of feedback 'thing.'

But otherwise, how to deal with or find out about the trolls among us?

Unfortunately there is no way. The rules are the rules,
"If you have trouble with another person coming through with their end of a trade, you must deal with it privately. It is the consensus of the forum users that this type of thing be kept out of our forums. Any public accusation in this forum, or elsewhere at GardenWeb, will result in the accuser being banned".

I've been burned in the past. But, it's only been by a few. I've had lots of successful trades, so it's only typical that I'd get burned a few times.

Thank you for your response. While I agree with the consensus that GW prefers to remain self-governing, I just noticed that one can't even get search results from the Exchange pages.

At least if one could see how previous trades turned out by searching members' usernames, we could make some sort of informed decision on trading. Otherwise, we are going into every trade on GW blind!

Pardon if I seem cynical, but I am. It seems as though the membership at GW just wants to let the occasional bad-trade happen and just look the other way. Having an objective feedback spot would at least be a step in helping to avoid trades with those whose goal is to just ruin it for the rest. It is unfortunate that we have to resort to 'talking behind each other's backs' and feed the rumor mill.

Local trading has nothing to do with it. Many forums like the African Violets Forum, the Alliums Forum, the Asian Vegetables Forum, etc, etc have exchange forums. There are even many stand-alone, non-local exchange forums like the Aquatic Plant Exchange, the Plant Exchange Forum, and the Seed Exchange Forum. For some reason, Gardenweb has neglected giving this forum, the Trees Forum, and the Conifers Forum exchange pages. All of these Forums have lots of people willing and wanting to do swaps. It's weird because many of the other exchange forums on Gardenweb have had almost no activity in years. Yet Gardenweb keeps those forums going and ignores the need for exchange forums here and in other forums. I think it would take a real concerted effort to get Gardenweb to make the change. They seem resistant to sensible change in many instances.

The pump was put in two weekends ago, and the waterfall has been sounding just so lovely. Before that I had the little skimmer pump moving the water around while we did water changes. All our fish survived, the only casualty of the winter was Bubba, the big frog. So now Wannabe is going to be called Bubba, and Waldo will be Wannabe, and any one of the smaller ones will be Waldo. They all look the same to me except for relative size... The goldfish are jumping out of the water, and our lone big koi is cruisin'. The had cheerios for a while in April, then spring/autumn food. Today the water temp was over 60, and I gave them summer food - mostly because I'm almost out of spring food... I have to order some. They sure didn't mind. The day the ice melted from the pond surface, was the day that the first lily leaf poked its head up. There are many lily leaves now and the pickerels and grassy marginals are all starting up. They all need repotting - but, no rush... We took the sediment filters apart last fall, they were working well but too large and unwieldy when wet. And the screws had rusted through. So we have to design a lighter weight version now. Meanwhile the double settling chamber is helping a lot even without the filters. Maybe we'll get that done this weekend. Weekends without ponding are hardly worth staying home for! :) Mary

I think the entire site would benefit if you could enable thumbnails of the photos to be shown. The thumbnails would be particularly helpful in the "Name that Plant" Forum as it would enable me and many others to get a glimpse of the plant in question , allowing me to see a preview of the plant without the need to click onto (and read) every single thread , before determining if the plant is likely to be something that I can help out with. I often refrain from helping out in your Plant ID Forum because thumbnails are not enabled. Your competitors already enable thumbnails and it is a big factor (in my honest opinion) as to why their ID Forums function more efficiently. best regards, Ron Here is a link that might be useful: Name that Plant Forum

I posted on the Robin Round forum that I would REALLY love the option to edit or delete a posting or response that I have left, that includes a pic I may have posted too, I might not want it to be around always. We should have this option of edit or deleting an again this is my personal opinion BUT I think adding this option will make Gardenweb better, and though I do have an account on FB (we can edit and delete postings there too) I prefer not to be linked to it through GW, I too come here to get away from all the junk on FB. Again my personal opinion but I do not see the point of Pinterest, what is it good for? You can do the same things there you can on other sites it is a jumble of junk to me. In other words, (I am not a 'senior' either) BUT I want GW left to it's cozy little self. Gardenweb is what it is because of the 'Community'/family bonds have been formed here that more likely then not last a lifetime. You CAN NOT get that on FB. GW is more then just a place to hang out and drink coffee, it is as said, A community of friends. FB or pinterest is NOT needed here. I do spend MORE TIME HERE then on FB, I post more here too.... ....so what does that tell you? Thanks for asking for input, I truly do hope it is taken to heart. :) Aqua

I've no interest in exchanges or feedback on exchanges but I do muse i.e. ponder the workings of forums from time to time.

Could you just go to google groups or yahoo and start a feedback on GW forums and link to it on your exchange pages? I don't know, as I say just musing.
