How do I save clippings?

I have a lot of stuff turned off to make everything crisp and clean to accomodate a visual imparment. Perhaps I have turned off a save clippings icon.

Do you see the cliggings thingy to the right of the message?

If so, the first 3 words are 'clip this post'. They run together with 'email this postwhat is this...no punctuation between and a little confusing all run together like that. You just click that, and then on the next page check mark 'save to my clippings'.

If you aren't seeing any of this, I'd suggest you ask at the Computer forum.

I use Opera, must have several pop-up blockers because I NEVER see any, but you may have some 'images' blocked.

Yah, I get the 'clip this post' link but when I go to my page and try to view my clippings it says I have none 'saved'

Does the 'saved' part of the clipping process have an image?

OK you obviously know where the files are on the computer, we'll assume here they are in My Documents/Clippings. This means they are all in a sub folder of My Documents in the folder Clippings. Right click the Start button click Explore in the pop up and a new window appears - Windows Explorer On the left side near the top look for My Documents click the small plus + sign beside it and other folders that are inside that folder now show underneath click the Clippings folder and all the contents now appear on the right side of your screen. To select those to delete one at a time simply right click on any file in the right side and in the pop up click Delete. Confirm and it is gone. To delete more than one at a time hold down the CTRL button on the keyboard then click each item to be deleted so it becomes highlighted. When ready release the CTRL button, right click on any highlighted file and click Delete in the pop up. Confirm. To delete a contiguous batch click the first one to be deleted to highlight it, hold down the Shift key and click the last one to be selected. Now all those in between are highlighted, right click on any one of those and click Delete in the pop up. Confirm. Done, assuming that is what you want.

Update: I finally found a way to read my clippings on "my page", but I still don't see how to delete anything. What am I overlooking? In the meantime, I discovered that it is simpler just to select/copy items of interest and paste them into a WORD document. It is much easier to copy a whole discussion thread than it is to clip each separate entry. Now I can group several threads according to topic. In a couple of hours, I was able to put together 50+ pages of information about undercounter lighting, recessed lighting, florescent bulbs, etc. We are attending a lighting seminar this evening. We attended a similar seminar last year when we began thinking about remodeling. Now it is time to order lights this week, so we need an updated refresher. This forum has helped me formulate many questions that I never would have dreamed of asking. Thank you!!

How do I do a search for specific saved sites?

I just print off the recipes as I find them. Yea, I have a gazillion recipes lying around the place. BUT, what I'm wondering is, when you put them into a folder, can you set up an index and put the name of the recipe and it's source into the index, alphabetically or by meal or by type of food (kind of like a recipe book), at the same time? I know it's a 2-step system but then when looking for a recipe you can just go into the index and perhaps the name of the recipe will tweak your memory. First go to the post, or thread that you want to clip. Click on Clip this post over to the right of the message. It will then take you to another screen, and then you can choose to cancel it, or save it. You must also choose to make the clipping either public or private. To then see what all you have clipped you go to the See my Clippings link on your member page. If you have chosen to make any of them public clippings, then others can also see your clippings...you can see mine. Just a little FYI. You can only save 50 clippings. The system will not allow you to save any more than that.....Also, if a post you have clipped happens to get to the last page (67) and drops off the page, you will also lose that clipping. For that reason, I occasionally copy some of my clippings to Word (or something) so they won't be lost...particularly if it is a really good recipe or something. Sue

Albert, are you also clicking on SAVE TO MY CLIPPINGS at the bottom of the "clip this post" page? And right next to that you have the option of keeping your clips public or making them private.

OK, found it with harper's suggestion, by moving my cursor near the public and private boxes. Curiously I have no save box.

I have my images turned off too, because I use to only have 128MB of memory with WinMe. It makes a big difference in page loading.

Anyway, to clarify, the image to click on to save the clipping is not on my screen. However, hovering the cursor to the left of the "public" at the bottom reveals the pointing finger, click to reveal a box, and click again to save the clipping.

Interesting, I saw "How do I save clippings?" and "Albert_135" and I thought "What could I have been talking about." Scanning reminded me of a GW feature I was learning to use and then I discovered Google Notebook had completely forgotten the GW Clippings feature.

BTW, FWIW etc. for those who have images turned off, sometimes depressing the tab key will lead one to a box to click, rather like moving the mouse pointer to where it turns into a finger as leftwood suggests, but, curiously, tab does not always work.
