It looks like a pretty cool new feature. Great for saving some extra funny posts, trade offers, great answers to questions...and viewing the 'most' saved posts, all in one handy place. Have you tried to check it out yet? Hold your curser over 'What is this?'

I think this feature in a Conversation area is totally unnecessary - esp to have them clipped to "most popular & recent clipped"....
Please re-consider.

Clippings that are marked as private do not appear on the most clipped or most recent lists, they can only be viewed by the member. You can have a mix of private and public clippings on your clippings page. The member will see them all but the public will only see the ones you've opened up.

So are you saying we all have a clippings page?? If so how do we get to it?? I think it's a good idea myself,just can't figure out how to use it.

There are lots of times i want to go back and look at something without having to go thru pages and pages of posts.Does this solve that???

Hi Kathi,

Yes, it's available to everyone. It will appear just to the right of every post -- hard to miss. If you're not seeing it, you may need to clear your browser's cache and restart.

This is a great way to keep a little file of posts that you want to save or follow. Perhaps there's a recipe thread that has a bunch of great recipes you want to try -- or maybe you're following a thread on someone's kitchen remodel -- you can 'clip' them to your file and then easily find them later on.

The nice thing about it is that you can either use it or choose to ignore it -- it's very unobstrusive and if you don't care to utilize it, nothing will change for you.

Give it a try and let us know what you think!

tamara. I tried it out and it seems ok but (I didn't notice) is there a way to get back to the page you were on when you saved the clip? I had to x and get back on the forum I was on.

Once you've clipped a post, you'll see near the top of the page a link to return you to that forum. It will look like this:

My Clippings

Saved changes to Creek Problems. Return to the Koi Ponds Forum.

Thanks GW! I like the clip this post feature. We're in the middle of remodeling and it's hard for me to keep track of pertinent threads I'm trying to follow. The new feature makes it much easier.

I am an active trader, and can keep track of the threads I have started and the threads I have replied to.

I immediately searched out 2 'favorite' threads at my favorite haunt (Tomatoes) and saved them.

I was at Circle Theater Forum and went to my clippings . It showed my clippings but the forum it noted was where I got the clipping from not the forum I was at previously (Circle Forum) I'd like that feature if possible (return to previous forum)

Josh and Tamara, I don't think you realize that some of us are still on dial-up, and those added features drag down the opening of long threads. Why are they needed on the conversation forums?

Besides, I consider them distracting,and don't like the pop-ups when I accidently put my cursor on them.

I would second (or third?) the opinion that this feature is unnecessary on the conversations forums. I know that the conversations forums are public and whatever is said there can be read by anyone, but this just makes it a little too easy for someone to collect personal info on a poster.

In lieu of eliminating the feature on conversations forums, could an individual poster elect to have his or her posts not clipped, or could the originator of a thread opt to have the thread not subject to clipping?

Also, please look at a conversation forum thread - with the tan background in those forums, the white clippings box does indeed become visually obtrusive. When there are several short posts in a row it really becomes dominant. If the clippings box must stay, it would be nice if it could have the same background color.

The background of all the forums for me is white. There is no clippings 'box' either...It is merely printed in green on a white background.
Possibly it is a setting on your computer that is making it harder to view.

3 of the posts I clipped were from (Tomato)conversations...'Favorite Movies' (I want to check them all out)
another where everyone introduced themselves (that maxed at 150) and another where I asked for help in naming my puppy.

I don't understand the "Most Clipped posts" things on that page. Why would I be interested in what was clipped by others. Why isn't the whole thing private?

minnie, As for keeping the whole thing private, just don't ever clip, or always select private when clipping and insofar as you are concerned it the whole thing will be private.

Many big famous sites like the new york times have "most" lists. "Most" is a rather popular internet thing to do.

I'm with you, I surely don't know why.

If you select private when you add something to your clippings page it will not appear on the lists of favorites or most recent. We are going to add a note to the form to help people understand this.

We've got a very large plant swap coming up through the Florida Gardening Forum and the clipping feature has been a great way to keep track of all the trades! I like it.

(Tamara and Josh - still hoping to see a Gallery page added to the Florida forum... Any consideration of that request yet?)

I am very new to this forum and am loving it so far and also love the idea of saving clippings that I want to read again. My problem is I can't figure out how I get to my clippings I have saved when I log in. Is there something very simple I am missing here?

Just go to your Member Page. You can save your page to your favorites, or bookmarks, or however you like....(like clicking on your name in a post)
Once you get to your Member Page, you will see the link at the top left that says See my clippings. From looking at your clippings that are 'public' I see you are into square foot gardening.
