I don't understand this question/photo. Are you going to rip out those old cabinets for new white ones? Are you going to remove the backsplash? If you want to keep the backsplash, new white cabinets would match. If you want a new backsplash, use a larger format style that includes the color of those old cabinets and doesn't compete with them. I personally would update both. The cabinets have seen their day, and that kind of backsplash is already dated. At the very least, I would have the cabinets painted a bright white and replace the countertop...although without seeing the floor, who knows?

Thanks all. I ended up tiling around the window, but stopping underneath the top shelf and at the same level on the other side so that it was symmetrical and framed the window. I felt tiling above the cabinets would have been too much and I even changed the design from herringbone to this stacked soldier pattern last minute because I thought it might have been too busy with my Taj Mahal countertops, which should be the star. The tile is from Emil Group and is called Totallook Blanco Matte and Blanco Lux. Just google and I'm sure you can find a store near you. I chose to do 75% matte and 25% glossy for a bit of pop, but not too much. Way too many decisions every day!!!

Is it too late to change your kitchen window from fixed to operable? Sometimes you just need to air out the kitchen! Is the range induction or gas? If gas/propane reconsider the quartz backsplash. I would use the same tile for both the sink and range walls. I also think you can find a more unique/special tile for the space. I have white cabinets, taj mahal quartzite counters, wood floors and wood ceiling beams. I used this marble mosaic for all my backsplash, and up to the ceiling on the sink wall. I have a large kitchen with 12 ft ceilings and it definitely called for something more than subway tile. Don't be afraid to try out different tile patterns/colors. Visit several local independently owned tile stores to see the most options. Not all shops carry the same lines. Borrow grouted sample boards to bring to your house once the cabinets and counters are installed. No rush ... I didn't find my backsplash until we moved in and had been in the house around 5 months.

One thing I would ask of your stone yard. Ask if they have a small sample of that quartzite you can have. This particular quartzite doesnt like oil too much. Even when sealed I have seen it get oil stains on it from cooking. Since you mentioned you like to cook I am sure at times you are using some type of oil while doing it. Get a sample piece and see if it stains and if it does if you can live with it.
