If you want a compact sweet potato, Amish Bush Porto Rico does pretty well. It is a variant of the old Porto Rico. My personal favorite is Bradshaw aka Mahon. It is a a very good general purpose sweet potato that produces a good crop even in short season areas. Most important, they are much better flavored and have better texture than Georgia Jet. I've also had very good results with Covington which is a recent release that produces much higher quality sweet potatoes than industry standards like Beauregard. Sandhill's business is first come first serve. This is why it is important to order early. It is not a matter of being on a waiting list, you will be on a waiting list if you order from virtually any sweet potato supplier. Get your order in early and Sandhill will almost always ship slips in a 2 week window timed for your location. Mahon is also available from Johnny's this year so if you are ordering from them, consider getting sweet potato plants too.

We have Lauzon engineered flooring. Dh did not use Lauzon's sealer or adhesive, he used Bostik adhesive. We did not seal the total area of concrete subfloor. However, we did use a Moisture Vapor Protection substance (also made by Bostik) on some portions of the concrete. It's been (almost) 5 years and not a single problem. Hopefully, that will continue! Below, I have a link to my old post. If you scroll down almost to the end, you'll see where I talk about the trowel size/dimensions. Lauzon had specifics about that (for the glue down process). Inside each box of boards, Lauzon has installation instructions. Trowel info is included in those instructions. We used the square edge boards, too. I hope you post pictures when done. Sorry, I read as far as Buffalo and stopped since I went into clueless territory! :-) 40 degrees is incredibly hot for any lawn (for us Americans, that's 104 degrees F). It's no wonder you're having issues! Regular heat of that level is a recipe for dying, heat-blasted grass and massive fungal infections from trying to keep it cool enough to survive. What are your winter temperatures like? Fescue might not have been the best choice for you (or it might have been a very good one, I'm not sure yet). If correct, you live in an extreme southern temperate climate that's more arid than most of the southern US. Your record lows are more compatible with warm season grass than cool season. Fescue is cool season and going to be a constant struggle in that climate. Also, the timing wasn't great. 12 week old grass simply can't survive summer weather here in Pennsylvania (30-35 C) much less 40. Planting in very late summer, just as temperatures start to drop would have been best. This is the equivalent of a spring sowing in a harsh climate. It might be wiser to consider Bermuda or another warm-season grass, but I'll let the experts on warm season grasses weigh in on that.

Going to interject here with my experience . Name that plant forum is not the only one experiencing problems. I have visited a number of forums and run into the same problem. When you post there is the box for the initial statement or question. You fill that and then you fill in the box below what becomes the title of the post. Then you hit next . That brings you to a page that allows you to pick your topic , once you have done that you hit Post. In many many cases either or both pages get " stuck " at this point. At the right lower part of the post it shows three little dots that appear to scroll from the first to the last and this just keeps going and going and going . Some have experienced an inability to post images in the post as well . This is not a browzer issue , nor a cache issue. This only started when Houzz decided to change the way posts were going to be available to more than one forum if you wanted. Had they left the site alone so many people would not be having these issues and it seems they have not been able to fix the glitch they created and nothing is more frustrating than to get a generic reply that basically says ...."too bad !" Let's face it , Houzz is not a garden site . It is here only to sell product their product . The fact that they continued with the Gardenweb part of the site I guess is a bonus but a frustrating one that they cant seem to fix it seems.
