Oh my gosh, these are some of the most exquisite rose pictures of beautiful roses I've ever seen. I can't wait to go on to part 2! Truly a wonderful treat. Thank you for a great start to the day.

I have become selective regarding roses. Borderline rose snob. I have never seen these 2 French roses in person. I solely ordered them based on online photos. Seil, my suburban garden is coming along nicely. I have learned alot on this forum, rose blogs, and visiting nurseries. Pictures in due time. The rose bands will ship in early June.

Carol, I have four bushes of Janet. Two of them are two years old and the other two were planted this spring. I can not figure out the growth habit of this rose - I have one bush that has pretty strong self-supporting canes (so far about 3' tall) and the other three are on a 'spindly' side, kind of sprawling. The blooms are very pretty and last quite a while on the bush, I especially love the color and the undertones. I will hold my judgment and give this rose more time to gain strength. Iris, the Butterfly Flower is 'Clerodendrum Ugandense'. If you look it up on Dave's Garden, you'll find a few vendors selling it pretty inexpensively. Marina

What I did on my Labor Day weekend...

Guys, I thought I'd let you know my Labor Day weekend finally came to an end yesterday. My friend who is a plumber came and crawled under the house. 2 trips to Lowe's and 6 hours later, he cut out 7 unnecessary, leaking couplings, replacing them with three, and straight pipe runs, and fixed 4 different leaks. STBX hadn't drilled through the joists like you're supposed to, to keep the plumbing up next to the floor for warmth. He'd gone down, under, up, across. Down, under, up and across thru out most of the crawlspace. One piece that Plumber Friend cut out, where the largest running water (not drip, running water) was, had 2 pieces of copper pipe held together with electrical tape. Not your best choice of plumbing material, but the theme of my DH's work Good enough for now. Plumber Friend said it had probably leaked since day 1, but over the last 6 weeks or so the tape had finally just plain been washed loose. 166 gallons of water a day! And people think I make this stuff up. So my plumbing is fixed after 3 days with my water shut off, 3 days without TV, 2 days of lost work, a new timing belt on my truck, and today... I get to go to work to pay for all of this. But, that @@#$! holiday weekend is over. Did anyone have a better one? Other than Abfabamy!? Bless your decorative heart!

Marina, I am so impressed with your cloudy morning photos. Absolutely stunning and a joy to see! Every single rose makes me ooooo and awwww, and so many new roses! like Pierre Gagnaire. Does it have scent? do bees love it? Ritausma, Michka likewise fascinate me! hurrray, I finally get to see the rose that Jerijen names herself after. What a beauty that rose is.

I have Golden Zest (new this year), and I love it. The fragrance is intense. I'm always stopping by for a few sniffs (Can't just have one). Your picture is oh so wonderful!! Mmmmm.

I've never seen Bayse Purple before. It is so striking. If I were to ever want to venture into the single rose, I would try that!! Do you have more pictures of it?

Syrenasyh, I was going to check the fragrance of Pierre Gagnaire, but the two blooms that I had are already gone and the new ones will open today-tomorrow. I will get back to you with my fragrance report :)
Carol, I don't have other pictures of Basye's Purple Rose but I will look if I have more blooms to take picture of. Although I have my poor rose for four years already, it just started to really grow for me - first is spent a year in a pot, then it's been moved to the new house, where it's got numerously mowed over. I was afraid this spring that I lost it completely, but to my delight, it came back and looks good now.
The blooms usually come in clusters and although individual blooms do not last long, the bush always has a few blossoms here and there. The color is unique and the velvety texture is captivating.
