Lupine seed question

Hello all I am trying to find out if I can cut the entire flower head off on a lupine and let it dry to collect the seed pods. It is the only one on the plant that is starting to turn brown, but the seed pods are still green. Will they continue to mature if I cut the head off the plant, or do I need to leave it there unitl the pods turn brown too and risk not getting to them in time? I did a search and the only thing I could find was one that said the seeds are ready to come out of the pod when the pod is brown, but it doesn't tell me if I can cut when green and let them brown inside. Thanks!!
