The roses look promising, but the one you have does not look like Candy Stripe. Candy Stripe is a striped sport of Pink Peace. What you have appears to be the grandiflora Love, an AARS winner from 1980. The tell-tale signs are the cherry red with white reverse bicoloring and the red stems. To me it looks like you have another misnamed rose. I have had a few of those also. Both of the roses I bought in bodybags this spring were misnamed. One died, so no loss.

Thanks for the proper ID, bustopher...I appreciate it. I ordered several of these from online "warehouses", so while it's frustrating, I knew that at least a couple would be mis-named. It is rather beautiful anyways though (and I got another one free, which is in my mom's garden). :-)

Very pretty roses, you have a nice collection, I like Rio Sambo very much. I don't know, the red rose and the orange lilies does make quite a contrast, why not?? I think when it gets warmer you may find your rose gets a little darker, but by that time your lilies may be gone:) I have some almost black red daylilies near Gemini and I like the way they look.

They look wonderful Jamie! Rio Samba is Deb's #1 favorite rose. (She says hi) Rio has been the first of our big roses to bloom two years in a row. I agree that Candystripe is actually Love. It looks just like ours. The good news is that the one in our yard has been here for decades. It was here when you visited. Deb's Grandma had it and the rascal is very hardy. At least they sent you a rose that likes Montana :)

I'll take a look at your album too, I bet your yard is gorgeous right now. We've been insanely busy just getting our landscaping for this year finished, and even starting a little bit on next year's. You and Deb will have to stop over this summer too, check out our little patch of blooms. :-)

That was the on the 4th of July. The clematis are done and the roses have finished the first flush. Some of the early bloomers are starting their second flush but the yard isn't covered with blooms right now. There will be a lot more to see in a week or 2. Deb works weekends but is home in the evenings. You can give us directions to your new home when you come by. We would love to see it.

I didn't get by this weekend (was entertaining until late Sat. night, and just dead on Sunday), but sounds like you're waiting for the second flush to come on as well (mine are just starting the second go-round too). I'll make a point of getting by probably next week, an evening if I can swing it. Hopefully the second flush will be going strong by then. :-)

Great pics, Jamie! Your alleged Blue Girl does, indeed, lok suspiciously like Angel Face. Which isn't a bad thing...I LOVE mine! The scent is wonderful... Everyone told me to watch out for BS, but it hasn't shown any at ALL yet, when even my Lavender Simplicities are. :/

I really like your Lovestruck. I've never heard of that one and it looks gorgeous!!
