In loving memory of my garden friend

This morning my husband found our beloved Bo Boy lying by the garden. I am not sure what happened to him. He was the best little garden friend you would ever want. I would set that mat down to sit on and he'd curl up next to me to sleep. He was the most precious little baby cat.

Oh, hugs to you. I'm so sorry for the loss of your furbaby. I have 7 cats and a dog myself, so I can understand your pain.

Lordy Lordy, Chicka dee dee dee you brought a tear to my eyes too. Our little dog is 18 years old, losing her sight and quite deaf. I have to echo all with my regrets for your loss. I also have to echo Diane and ceterum, to also query the Antique forum. I know it sounds kind of scary at first with all of the long names but people will be gentle with you and they are not hard to come by at all by mail order from reputable places. The reason you may be more pleased with old garden roses is that often they have more disease resistance, more and more of us don't spray due to the environment, but honestly speaking who has the time and dedication? This might also be why the ones you lost didn't fare well. I particularly like the 'found' roses with names of who found them or where they were found. Some may only bloom once which isn't bad, but for your application you may want to make sure that they bloom throughout your season. I finally dove into them this last year and am very excited about how they will look and do, you sound like it wouldn't take too much for you to become just as excited if only you had better guidance (and enabling, you've come to the right place for that!) than what's at the local big box or nursery. Although you've described your needs pretty well, you might want to think about colors before you start studying what to get. If I may suggest, you might want to focus on bold (but not overly gaudy) colors. I especially like yellow as an accent, it is such a happy color to me and that's what you'll want to feel in the spot, not that she's gone of course, but all the happy memories of times shared. Too many pale colors would just get me down, I know, and that's where you want to go to get away from such a mood. You might also want to include her favorite color as a main color or accent depending on what it is. If she liked white or pale pink, just pair it with a saturated dark pink or the lovely purple clematis above. I'm very sorry you lost your friend, Jeri is right, when ever you garden she'll be closest in your thoughts and memories will surface. Why don't you get a rose and plant it in her memory though, doesn't have to be one named for her, just her favorite color, pink was it? It'll give you pleasure to see it grow and be a living thought in her memory. Gardening and roses were my grandma's favorite activity and reason why I do it and though she's been gone well over 20 years now, I still hear her, especially when I'm out working in the roses. She wants an alba rose? Get Great Maiden's Blush, KÃ¯Â¿Â½nigin von DÃ¯Â¿Â½nemark or Felicite Parmentier Peonys are no maintenance. All you have to do is put out a peony cage in the spring and then after frost clean up foliage. And sometimes a little lime/ I don't even put up a cage. If your aunt is now in charge of your grandmother's property and doesn't want something fussy- I'd do the Bernice peony! Or FESTIVA MAXIMA, 1851, that a favorite of mine, I like the perfume. More peonies: 'Raspberry Sundae' ' Rasperberry Ice' 'Garden Parfait' 'Pink Parfait' 'Bowl of Cream' 'Candy Stripe' 'Madelon' (bred in 1922) 'Blanche King' (bred in 1922) 'Alice Harding' (bred in 1922) 'Laura Dessert' 'Suzanne Dessert' 'Candy Heart' 'Chiffon Clouds' 'Chocolate Soldier' (If she loved chocolate...this one...) 'Hot Chocolate' 'Lemon Chiffon' 'Raspberry Charm' 'Sugar 'n Spice' 'Pink Lemonade' Bleeding hearts are okay, but they die back during the summer, not that peonies are that useful during the summer either, I just like them a lot....they'll probably outlive both your aunt and yourself. Thus in a way your grandmother will live on in that house that way. All narcissus/daffodils are deer/critter resistant because they are POISONOUS. As are hyacinth and fritillary. Alliums are left alone by critters as well. Unfortunately many of the spring blooming bulbs you have to wait until autumn (you probably know this) so places that have interesting cultivars, may not have them in stock anymore....I like the white daffodil 'Thalia' Also here's a nursery that sells "chocolate" plants as in platns brown/chocolate colored or with candy/chocolate names! That's terrible, I'm sorry. That really hurts to loose your pet, it's a member of your family. What a handsome cat he was and he went to sleep the last time where he loved being the best, your garden.

Oh So sorry to hear about your beloved pet.Its so sad to lose our pets as they are part of our family.He was certainly a beautiful kitty and will be missed,but you have your memories that will always be with you.

So very sorry for you loss of your precious Bo. It's so heartbreaking to lose our little buddies :-( When one of my dogs died a few years ago I couldn't even go out into the back garden - her favorite place - for months.

Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss!! Bo was beautiful! He reminds me of my old beloved female cat WHISKERS who died a few yrs ago at nearly 19 yrs old. They truly are like a member of the family.

So sorry you lost Bo Bo. He was a beautiful cat. My Koo kitty was diagnosed with cancer last year and I've been treasuring every moment I have with him. It's amazing the purity of the love we feel for them - my heart goes out to you.

Bo is beautiful, and reminds me of my much missed old boy, Spike. I am so sorry Bo is gone. It must be hard not knowing what happened. I hope it was quick and painless. Rest in peace, Bo Bo.

I could cry for you right now. I love kitties. I cannot bear to lose one although I know when they get on up in age it is inevitable. I feel the pain of your loss. I know Bo Bo was probably well loved and had a good life. Nonetheless, it still pains us to lose them.

What a beautiful cat! I'm sure you have many happy memories of him and lots of pics too. I don't think I've had any cats live to be 15. I have 10 myself and one that is currently missing. I hope she comes home but she just drops in once or twice a wk usually and we haven't seen her in the last wk. One of the others is feral. I love my flowers and plants and I love my cats! I wouldn't know what to do w/o my kitties to keep me company! Our kitty friends are members of the family. I wish you the best in this difficult time. Brandy

Thank to you all for the kind words. It is very hard to be without my little boy.

I did spend a little time out in the garden today. Its hard cuz I know he would be sitting with me enjoying the sun and being in the garden with his mommy...
