Your roses are looking good! Mary Rose is a sweetheart, isn't she.

Thanks Kate. Yes I am really like Mary Rose. She has been moved around a bit. She started life in a too shady spot on the east side of the house. Late last summer she looked awful so I transplanted from there into a pot and then sunk the pot for winter. This spring when the new bed in back was ready I planted her there and so far so good.

Pretty pretty! I like that PRECIOUS DREAM. That's a mini, right? Isn't this smoke awful? We had almost no smoke around us with the fires closer to us two weeks ago. Now it's so thick, it's like fog. These fires are horrible. And this smoke is killing my throat. I'm afraid this is going to be a long scarey summer!

Oh ! very pretty! I love the form on your Mary Rose,I bet its beautiful in bouquets! wonder if its a good candidate for the vase? and I love the color of Precious Dream.

Hey Beth. Thanks. It is a Hybrid Bracteata. I learned recently that mini's and hybrid bracteata's are two different creatures. So I think I have to say no to that question but that's about all I know:) Yes the smoke is incredible. It actually got a lot worse yesterday. I know what you mean about how it just seems to be resting on top of us and growing thicker. If this persists I might be taking the weekend off fram gardening for a change. Just keeping my fingers crossed that the lightning in the forecast does not come to pass.

Thank you Suzy. You know your question about Mary Rose in the vase ia a good one. I rarely cut my roses for that purpose as I prefer to enjoy them in the garden. I like the way the color on Mary Rose is maturing with time. Much deeper pink than last year.

Kate, must be very bad to have all that smoke around. Your roses still look happy and beautiful. Just wait until they mature, you will be estatic.

Yes the situation is pretty strange. Everyone is anxious to be able to see the sky again hopefully soon.

I know I cannot wait for some of my roses to grow up! To have them overall happy and healthy is good for now though.

We had all that smoke and soot last October. It's best to stay in as it's not good to breathe. The dirt in the patio, on the plants and sidewalk and cars was amazing. I was so happy when it was over. I sure hope the summer does not shape up to be a fire-y one. But it does not look too good.
My Mary Rose was moved a couple of years ago and is very happy now. I hope to get some pics on Saturday morning as it will be covered by then.

oh my, what beauties you have.I have wanted Mary Rose for a long time,and that Precious Dream is gorgeous.Hope the fires stays away from you folks out there and smoke is all you have to conrend with.Been watching the floods on tv and its horrible for folks to be losing everything.

We have not had the same kind of grief Beth has. Our closest fire is about 30 miles away and not coming this way. We're just dealing with smoke from a larger fire in the general area that has us seriously socked in with smoke. One day its not bad and the next air quality is just terrible. You just have to work with it as much as possible.

I consider us to very fortunate that at the moment it is little more than a mildly unpleasant inconvenience.
