It is possible but there are very few rose bonsai. Their growth habit is not very compatible with bonsai methods and goals. I have never seen a rose bonsai in a show in the US and I go to a lot of shows (in CA). Lynn Perry wrote a very good book on bonsai back in 1964 (Bonsai Trees and Shrubs)and she mentions rose bonsai but recommends that wild roses be used and you should start with an old collected rose. That is where I would start. They are more suitable because their leaves and flowers are smaller and if you are very selective you can find one with a nice big old trunk.

From what I read catrose the seeds or hips but seeds are actually better for a facial moisturizure (spelling wrong sorry) because they are not real oily and greasy and because of their vitamin content. I was trying to see if anyone had actually tried it, and what results, and plus the easiest way to make it. I found a recipe using the hips and seeds, but I read that just the seeds were better, because they were very light in oil and great for skin, just trying to try something new. and thanks everyone for your input I love learning from everyone on here and the advice given, hopefully someone's done this and will chime in and teach us something :)

Hi sunshadow, I am in southwestern Maine- mountain/lake area- zone 4-5, but I usually buy plants based on zone 4 to be sure. I have TONS of bees!!! I tried an experiment and removed spent blooms on some plants (they are currently sparsely reblooming) and not on others (no hips on either). Once the flowers drop, there are little things that look like they will develop into hips, but they soon shrivel and die-not one hip in 3 years.
