Time to Pay it Forward..

I Promised I would grow this pepper and spread the seed so please email me and I will reply with my mailing address, Please send a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope to me and I will return a packet of seeds to the first 22 people who respond.

NOTE: I only had two plants make it, each ripe pepper produces like 5 seeds so they are harder to get than you might think. These are not a Hot Pepper, they are sweet and tasty - my wife loves them!

So I grew this pepper also..The first two peppers I picked were bright orange and the sweetest pepper I ever tasted. Every other pepper never changed color from green...also only contained like 5 seeds...

Any thoughts?

I started nearly six seeds indoors at the end of April on heat mats, Two plants survived to be hardened off and in containers on my deck.

They all started out green and then most ripened to orange. I noticed small peppers, even if orange had NO seeds in them! The larger peppers had like 5 seeds per pepper. they went through two production/flowerings as did most of my peppers but it was a unique hotter season up north this year which caused blossom drop and second later flowering which resulted in later production.

I still have some peppers on my plant that are not ripe but going to give up on them soon as we are fighting frost now.

Was thinking if maybe trying to over winter it with one of my Ghost peppers, hmmmm...

My wife loves these so we'll be growing next year will try more seedlings though, and maybe start earlier with my Ghost peppers, I'm not sure.

Wow, these peppers look really nice. I love hot, but I also love sweet as well. They sound and look almost like an old heirloom Italian sweet pepper I grew many years ago which was passed down a family from Italy for generations before immigrating to the US in upperstate NY. I was fortunate to get a few seeds from a friend who knew this Italian family. The name of the pepper is unknown. The last seed I saved wasn't viable when I tried regrowing years ago. I've been looking for it ever since, but no success in finding a similar pepper. Your pepper looks very close and similar characteristics, only difference being mine had a slight tapered bottom and turned red when ripe. I'd love to try this pepper, for sure. Hey, I'm the breeder of this pepper. I have never seen anything like the pepper on the right in my breeding lines when it comes to having heat along with the amount of seeds (the Crunch Sweet Orange is generally extremely low in seeds per pod). It may be an accidental cross...it probably is an accidental cross...but it may be a mutation, too. It's just something I've never seen and none of the parent genetics came from a hot pepper source. Also, I never stabilized pod variation on this pepper. Sweetness/fruitiness and many other qualities are very stable, but it's not uncommon to get 2-3-4 lobed peppers on the same plant. That said, high seed count is something I've not seen since early in the breeding line cycle and heat is something I've never seen. Thanks for sharing the pepper with others. Glad you enjoy it.

I've received an email from someone looking some seeds from me, but thanks to a long illness (which I'm now over) I didn't grow any CSO this year. I have no seed to supplement this share offer.

...just wanted to throw that out there since I believe the request may have come from a spawn off this thread.

My seeds arrived a few days ago THANK YOU DAN!! I'm so excited since this year I had 2 gorgeous plants, set them out and the next day something had eaten them, and several of my other sweet peppers ;-(. Next year I think I'll grow them in pots!
