Fruit flies stunned by hot peppers?

I'm drying assorted reject hot peppers to use for garden pest sprays next year. Lots of fruit flies are on and in them. They don't fly up and leave when I disturb them. I can carry the plate outside and even then have to push the flies off. When they get on other fruits and veggies, they fly up instantly if I come close.

Does anyone know if peppers immobilize or affect insects in other ways? I was figuring the spray I planned to make would help keep mammals from chewing up my plants. Didn't think it might attract or/and drug insects.

only mammals feel the heat of a pepper, insects and birds do not.

Fruit flies/fungus gnats you can control with 1 tsp of old fashioned dishsoap in a qt of water

Save the chiles for dogs, cats, squirrels, chipmonks and 2 legged theieves

I would contact the Ministry of Agriculture and find out what the period of pepper maggots. Usually its about 3 weeks. BUT your 3 weeks is going to be different than mine

This is what I do for my fruit flies problem inside the house and it works: 1/3 cup of orange juice , 2 drops of liquid soap, 2 drops of vinegar Mix it all up in a small dish and put it where the infestation is.You have to change it every few days it will dry out..and go mold othervise..

Jennifer Guilin --from you--it was quite productive,thin fleshed and quite hot.I tried this last year and none germinated. Antonia P. Rhomedia-- this pepper with the unlikely name came from a non-pepper person.I first thought it might be Antohi Romanian because of similarities in name. This pepper was green rather than pale when immature and the shape was different- thick flesh ( like a bell) juicy, sweet, and tasty. Tuste Blanco-- is a Zapotec Indian pepper- C. annuum, tough skin, moderate heat,fairly productive CAP 469-AB-- was sent to me as C. praetermissum even though the seed bank lists it as capsicum species. I had two plants CAP 469-AB 2 turned out to be a C. annuum, large,bland pepper with no heat. The other plant was a praetermissum which I brought in but the aphids became too much and I chucked it before the pods ripened so no pod picks. I can no way pick a favorite,as in if on a desert isl. having to pick 1 to grow only. I like Frutescens for Flavor with a short burst of sometimes very hot heat. Sweets and milds to roast or smoke dry for bases to mix super hots for rubs and powder mixes or stuff fresh and grill or whatever. Chinense and Pubescens for heat and flavor. Love big Manzanos/Rocotos for stuffing-sausage,rice,chicken,seafood/shrimp/crab,beans or all of the before mentioned mixed up as stuffing. Each pepper has it's place on my table,grill,smoker,oven or stovetop. Nope,I'm not addicted,I can quit anytime I want to. I just don't feel like it right now. LOL

I don't even have any luck using the peppers to deter squirrels and rabbits...

Pepper sprays and waxes are laughable for trying to control animals and insects. They just don't feel pain the same way we do. Pepper powders on the other hand are very effective for animals, but not for insects.
