wanted: lost all plants in move to colorado

Hello All!

Before we retired to Colorado, I kept over 200 species or varieties of roses, and several hundred other plants in my gardens that had become dear to me.

Well, I've done the crying part as the move was rather sudden and in the worst winter weather. Now, I need to start over.

I have several hundred types of rose seeds, some open-pollinated, some hand pollinated, and most from the rarer roses of the world. I have these to trade. I am also a custom jeweler and have all that subject entails to trade.

The roses I miss the most and would like to find the soonest are (many are species or wild roses, but not all):

Latin binomial---common name

R. x Hibernica Wild Irish Rose

R. rugosa (typica)

R. pendulina

R. foliolosa

R. canina

R. eglanteria

R. alba-semi plena

R. moschata (Musk Rose)

R. woodsii

R. moyesii

R. rubrifolia (R. glauca)

R. davidii (this especially as it is my son's name)

R. damascena (the type of the Damask Rose; also Autumn Damask, Trigintipetala, and York and

Lancaster)

Hybrid Musks - any

R. nitida

R. palustris

Other Favorites I am looking for are:

Little White Pet, Zepherine Drouhin, Lavender Lassie, The Fairy, Rose de Rescht, Stanwell's Perpetual.....

Have a look at my tradelists and also at a web gallery of my recently sold jewelry work. I cut my own stones and do all of the metal work, as well. I also do repairs, so there's a thought for trade.

Hello again! I forgot to mention that I would love small rooted plants, of course, but cuttings and seeds are great too.

I will be adding photos of my beloved lost plants and garden designs. Just before deciding to retire, I spent some years as a freelance Landscape Designer (I'd be willing to do a design as a trade, as well, since I no longer do this professionally.)

BTW, all gardening we do is entirely organic. I am a Master Herbalist so I grow (or grew) all of the herbs needed for my family, friends, landscape jobs, etc. I simply cannot allow harmful substances near any area where plants - herbs, fruit/veg, etc.- are being harvested. The herbs are grown for asthetics, medicinal, culinary, craft (dyes, soaps, etc., and even for contact pesticides.

I'll be trying to start some of them for you :) They need a bit of growing time, and I just finished pruning, too.

Greenmantle
Amy Robsart
Lavender Dream
The Fairy

and maybe Zeffy and Little White Pet. The tag may be wrong on Zeffy so she'll have to bloom to know, and LWP isn't 100% confirmed.

From what I see it is mostly tomatoes or all tomatoes which in my experience are pretty tough, I wouldn't leave much hope for the fruit that is on the plant but they could re-establish and push out more blossoms depends on the variety though determinate or indeterminate, I would also play it safe and take a couple cuttings of each and start new plants tomatoes root very easily. I would recommend waiting until evening to put in the ground to give them a chance, but be prepared the direct summer sun can fry transplants quickly. Good Luck!

I fully understand. Been there, done that in 2001. They weren't winter sown plants, but then again I discovered wsing that winter and have never looked back. Just a little pointer that may help a lot. Plants which are transplanted at this time of year in our zone are likely to suffer a bit of heaving in the winter. When transplanting them, add water as you add the soil to try and remove air pockets where the water may sit in and freeze around the roots. Make them as snug as a bug around the root ball and then mulch a bit. It will go a long way to making sure they get through. :O)

Hi Amy, Welcome to RMG! IÂm not really into roses, so I wonÂt try to give you an answer about them, but ALL the other things you asked about will do just fine here with the exception of the glads. The glads will do well here tooÂbutÂthey need to be dug in fall, stored over winter, and replanted in spring to be sure they make it thru the winter. If theyÂre planted next to something like a brick wall facing south, or some other really warm and protected place, they may make it in the ground, but you never know for sure till early summer. And maybe I should qualify the lilies since some of them are tropicals. It depends on what kind you have, but most of them are hardy, like tiger lilies, Asiatic, Oriental, and trumpet liliesÂso chances are what you have will be hardy. Hello again! I must apologize for my long silence: my computer completely crashed! Kaput! We had to re-build it from the new harddrive up. Finally got email tonight! Yeah
I added a few things to my tradelist in the plants wanted section. I' ve decided to remove the sod from our small front yard. I'll replace it with rock garden plants (looking for: sedums, thymes, cacti, succulents, any sun-loving, low-growing plants), since water usage is a huge issue here.

I'm DEFINITELY interested in all of your roses! I'm a huge fan of The Fairy and Little White Pet! I miss them so... Bella Nitida, Greenmantle, Amy Robsart, and Lavender Dream are really beautiful as well.
