@ab2008 ha, So I'm in Texas and I'm having the same problem as him. No pollen, mine are outside. They've been outside all summer. They've probably dropped 600+ flowers which makes me want to cry. my plants are anywhere from 2 to 6ft. I've got habs, naga dorset, mazano, trinidad scorpions, fatalii, aji, thai, and a few more i don't remember planting. Of the plants I have, the Aji and the habs (occasionally) produce pollen. Temps are roughly a 100 here. They might be dying from the heat. They are also in pots. Sadly, I've grown them on the balcony synthesizing my own nutrient fertilizing goo for them. I don't think i can move them at this point. I was thinking the heat might be killing the roots or something of that nature. I don't water them too much. Also, if i could get some of them seeds, that would be great, buying them online is nearly impossible. I order manzano peppers and got datil or fatalii. granted I like those but still. Next year I'm moving my crop out to the farm. This balcony business isn't working.

I do not like the modern hybrids. I prefer the original real Mexican Jalapeno. The American hybridizers want a lower heat Jalapeno. They think the public wants low heat. They probably are correct. When you find one that suits your taste make sure to save seeds. Mexicans tend to like their hot peppers hot. Americans like their peppers cool. You might also look for real Mexican Serrano. Ground cherry is part of the Solanaceae Plant family (or Nightshade) These include the likes of peppers, potatos, tobacco, tomato,deadly nightshade & eggplants. They are all Self pollinating. Good luck with your Ground Cherry! I am growing some from seed. They take awhile to germinate. Took 14 days or so and one just sprouted today. They are very wee and small. when grown do not eat them while they unripe. Becuase they are Toxic when unripe. (they after all related to the deadly nightshade!)

I would say, scientifically, my results are inconclusive. Anecdotally, heat does not interfere with fruit set on my peppers, and, like Humsi, may even be helpful. However, the correlation of temperature:fruit set may be more related to WHEN my peppers normally set fruit, irrespective of the temperature. My peppers really start to kick off with the flowers later in the season, late July-August because peppers are just slower. Since I grow a lot of early-mid season determinate tom's, many of them have already set, and maybe even ripened, most of their fruit. This also corresponds with when we often see some our most brutal summer heat. Correlation does not always equal causation. I will say that WATERING has much more of an effect on fruit set than temperatures with my peppers. I grow them in containers and while I do let them get fairly dry between watering, if I let them go a little too far (which I do, from time to time) the flowers will be all over the ground the next day. If they are adequately watered, however, the heat doesn't seem to bother them in the least. Again, like Humsi, we often have humidity that barely breaks out of the single digits (today it was 9%, so low the heat index was 6 degrees cooler than the ambient air temperature.)
