i didn't find them hard to germinate, although they took longer than my Red Savinas, about 2 weeks in total. I placed the seeds in a moist paper towel, when they germinated, i placed them in an organic mix, been fine ever since, no special treatment.

Sometimes chilis take up to a month to germinate. I've had that happen with Habs this year.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Naga Jolokia is not the worlds hottest pepper. If you grow this thinking it is the hottest you'll be in for a let down.

The Bhut Jolokia is the current Guinness book of world records holder. Now of course there are a few unofficial peppers out there that people say are hotter.

Now if the pepper you have was a Naga Morich or a Dorset Naga, then you'd have a pretty hot pepper. Heck even the Trinidad scorpion ranks pretty high up there.

As for germination, true nagas can take 30+ days even at a constant 85 degrees. Most other habs average about 7-14 days with a few pushing 21+ days.

whatever you do, stay away from peat pellets. they tend to hinder germination of peppers often causing dampening off. patience is a virtue with these peppers. make sure you have well draining soil, as these peppers are particulary sensitive when starting off. water only when soil is somewhat dry. it's recommended to wait until the plant shows mild wilting however, use caution with unestablished plants. other than that, instructions just means proceed with caution not that i can't be done. happy growing

Pepper Joes calls their Bhut Jolokia Strain a Naga Jolokia-along with other venders.

There are 2 Naga Jolokia peppers.
One is a C. Frutescens(PC1) and the other a C.Chinense(Bhut,Bih etc.).
Though it was found that Bhut Jolokia had Frutescens genes in it too.

Smokemaster makes a good point regarding Naga Jolokia varieties. The Chinese are the hottest.

The Jolokias go by MANY different names including Nagahari, Bhut Jolokia, Bih Jolokia, Borbih, Raja Mircha, Raja Chilli, Mirch, Mircha, Naga Moresh, Naga Morich, Tezpur, and Dorset Naga.

My NMSU CPI Bhut Jolokias germinated in 7 - 14 days using a heating pad.

Dorset Naga is a Naga Morich that was developed in England.
Naga Morich and the Bhut,Bih etc. aren't the same pepper.

Some speculate the Naga Morich is the grandady to the Bhuts etc.
It was probably the pepper that originaly was spread around to different locations and evolved into the different strains of nagas and bhuts.
The Morich isn't as hot as the Bhut,Bih etc.
A lot of the Super Hots from India aren't just names for the same pepper.
They are different strains that do have some kind of difference in either heat,productivity,size and or color.

BUT,seed companies call seed they got from New Mexico Chile institute by many names for sales purposes.Even though they are the Bhut Jolokia
It's hard to tell without growing a seed that if in fact you got a bih,bhut,naga or whatever,the real deal, the seed was called.
Like Pepper Joes,It's speculated that their Giant Bhut is a Bhut Jolokia,the regular Bhut is really a dorset naga or naga morich.Two different peppers.
N.M.C.I sells the Bhut Jolokia.Didn't sell the Morich(might now,I don't Know).They only claim that their giant Bhut is from New Mexico.
