expert opinion needed for northern exposure mini

Hi everyone, I don't know much about roses other than they need a lot of sun for blooming, but some tend to scorch in the summer here in socal (zone 10 sunset 21), so I'm assuming some can take shade, but I don't know which ones.

However, I have my heart set on a red rose for a clay pot (about 2 gallon) for my front patio that faces north and only gets morning light. In my mind I see this rose slightly draping over the sides of the pot, not upright. Can this really happen, or do I need to give up the dream? Any suggestions for a good one?
