Comments (6)I'm surprised it is still going (how old is it?), but would guess it will die eventually. My most extensive experience with albino seedlings is with interspecific crosses within the genus Oenothera (evening primrose). One cross between two species within one tribe always produces 25% albino seedlings. I remember all of the albino seedlings dying within, at most, two months. The occasional albino seedlings of other species that turn up occasionally also never survive for too long. The reddish color is from anthocyanins, which are not photosynthetic.
