First I would like to say how thrilled I am with 98% of my trades. I have met wonderful people on the seed exchange and received great seeds :-)

Two people that I would not trade with again, because they did not send seeds or respond to e-mails:

J. Diaz from Chowchilla, CA

Jennifer W. (gw delic8) from Beaverton, AL

These people are probably going under different names by now, so just be cautious if you make a trade with them and wait until you receive your seeds first. I think that this forum is a great source for checking on future traders.

Oh, YES!!!! I second the complaint about J. Diaz in Chowchilla, CA. My suggestion regarding this trader is Just Say No!!! A million times over.

This one is a tough one, because either it is something that grows like a weed and will probably grow anyway or it something I really like and keep trying just for the sake of getting it, at least until my seed packet runs out, then I may not bother with that particular variety again. That said, these are off my planting list: Moonflower - First year produced a ton of foliage, bloomed rather late (August), and didn't have enough flowers to really make it worth it. The flowers were kind of hidden too and only lasted the night, except for cold days when they lasted a little longer. Their fragrance was their saving quality, but overall it took too much space in my boulevard garden and staking it was kind of a pain. This year: It didn't bloom. Buds are on now but it will frost before they can open. Sweet Dreams Cosmos: Our season just isn't long enough for them to grow. Last year, just barely got them blooming late August or Middle September. This year it took them to October to produce buds and they won't open before it frosts and the weather goes downhill. Makes me wonder if anyone else in Zone 3/4 has trouble with these as well? Maybe If I really wanted them blooming, I need to buy them as bedding plants that have been forced to bloom before planting. Nasturtiums? I love the flowers and the spicy leaves, but they always turn yellow and grow really sickly in our container gardens. Maybe I'll try again with a different seed mix, or maybe not.

This is a sad situation when you have the mower fixed and a few weeks later - it doesn't work. With out knowing which engine is installed, it is hard to offer advice. Can you provide the engine brand and any numbers? Does the engine have a primer bulb? Is the primer located close to the sparkplug? Is the fuel tank located below the carburetor? Was the mower left outside - any rain? Before taking it to a shop, Try priming the engine 6 - 7 times. Sometimes there simply is not enough fuel from the usual 3 primes. If this does not work - answer the questions and someone will provide more answers. Since the engine was repaired 2 months ago and you ran it 3 weeks ago, I doubt if the fuel is bad. If, however, the fuel in your spare gas can is from last year - you may have a fuel problem.

I know - its the kind of thing I like to do too. Sounds like the deck is okay. I would keep on using it. CD pack failures are irritating, but when you consider that most people have to buy a new mower long before 9 years, it seems very cheap to operate. Even if you have put new wheels and axles on at about the same frequency as the CD packs, you really are not spending any money on it. And, you can still find the rear-bagging kits and deck plates (blank for discharging, blocked for mulching). Other things you may encounter after such long service are crankshaft end seals popping out or just leaking, the need to rebuild the carb and carbon build-up in the exhaust ports and muffler. I always recommend adding Marvel Mystery oil to the gas in addition to your regular oil mix as well as the use of a fuel stabilizer. If you use Ethanol-blended fuel, get the Stabil Marine for Ethanol Fuels. All engines like MMO, in particular the 2-cycles.

False indigo...amorpha fruticosa. I had such high hopes for this shrub and it seemed as if it was perfect for the location and drainage and soil. Well....it didn't grow even a foot tall this season - this for a shrub that should reach 7-10' at maturity. The nice green spring leaves were constantly being eaten by some type of worm or caterpillar - had to brush them off at least 1x/day. Now, it just looks pitiful, some dried leaves, a few green ones. Never flowered any of those neat-looking flowers either, although it may be too young and too stressed. It's such a far cry from what I was expecting and needing for that location. Back to the books, I guess to find another choice.

hey, i saw that you reported this plant grows in modesto, which is only an hour from my home. i would like to know if you have ever collected seed from it before and if it looks like a bunch of chaff because i just recieved some clerodendrum bungei seeds and i looks like a bunch of chaff.

Thanks for sharing your post with J. (Josue) Diaz. It was hilarious! I have seen you post often in the past and know that you love poppies, but haven't had the pleasure to trade with you. I am wondering if you can add to the list of stiff traders, so we can add them to our 'do not trade' list :-)

Jose Diaz, GW name: jdiaz31089, stiffed me 2 years ago. I just checked and he still has a member page, but his trade page no longer has anything listed.
Haven't seen him pop up in a while, but then again, he could be here under another name.

Eeek - I just caught myself putting someone on my "Do not trade with list" and then I realized it was their signature at the bottom, not part of the list. That would've been an awful mistake. I thought I'd mention that in case someone else did the same thing. I need to read more carefully instead of just scrolling through quickly looking at lists.
I hope it's ok to put real names and cities along with Gardenweb names for bad traders. It sure is helpful for catching people that trade under different names and also might keep us from blacklisting someone with a name similar to a bad trader.

I would think the best thing to do under these circumstances is not to put the whole last name as that could be means for getting the whole post yanked. I would put first name and last initial (of course people could change their last name as easily as their first name, the mail will deliver mail to a address not a name) then just put the city and state they are from, makes it a little harder, unless they are willing to drive to other cities to get a p.o box.
On the whole I would say we have a wonderful group here, and as the statistics are showing there are many more great traders on here then there is scammers, look at the pages and pages of good reviews that are already here:)

I too will NOT trade with delic8 (Deb W.), I made a trade with her back in Feb. and I NEVER received her end of the trade.

J Diaz is back under the name of 'capirucho_chucho', trading pomegranate seed. The address being used is one that stiffed me before and belongs to a dormatory at Fresno Pacific University. Even if the name changes the address might not 1717 South Chestnut Ave so write this one down.

But I always search names here before I trade w/ anyone and I get conflicting reports - sometimes.
