show off your pink roses (part i)
Here I am in the winter doldrums, and as Seil would put it, I need a picture fix.
How about if we post a new thread every couple weeks, each one celebrating our loveliest roses, based on colors.
Everybody can contribute, and if the thread gets too long and picture heavy, we can start another thread continuing it (Pink Roses, Part I, Part II, Part III, etc.).
I'm not a great photographer, but I'll start this PINK ROSE THREAD. Let's make that pink and pink blends.
CELEBRATE PINK ROSES
Jubilee Celebration (Austin rose)--I love the hint of yellow at the base of the petals.
Mayflower (Austin rose)--good dependable bloomer; lusher bloom in autumn.

Peter Mayle (Hybrid Tea) and Mrs. John Laing (Hybrid Perpetual)-- Peter is the hot pink blooms in front, with the BIGGGGG blooms. I mean, really BIGGGGGGG. I don't seem to have any individual blooms of light pink Mrs. Laing, but you can see her in the background.

Mortimer Sackler (Austin rose)-- grown as a tall shrub, but indicates it would enjoy being a climber also.

Earth Song (grandiflora? I'm never sure how this one is classified) -- very floriferous and dependable.

Queen of Sweden (Austin rose)-- not my best picture, but I just discovered it is the only one I have of this rose. I'd best get on the ball and take pics of it next summer!
Fru Dagmar Hastrup (Rugosa rose)-- brand new Dagmar strutting her very first bloom last summer. Looking forward to lots of blooms next summer. Love those rugosa leaves.

That's most of my pink ones--I have a few unidentified pink photos and a few others I somehow didn't take pics of--such as Lady of Guadalupe. Must correct that this summer.

Comments (21)Beth, you are so right--should have done apricot and orange separately. But since I grow almost none of either one, how was I to know you folks had gone a bit nuts over apricot and orange. I didn't even know there were that many oranges and apricots! (You folks must have "loud" gardens--ha!) Think we are headed for Orange/Apricot, Part II, don't you? Well, let me pick out a few of my favorites upthread. Cheshire and South Africa are lovely--I like golden tones, with some apricot highlights. Honey Perfume belongs in there too. Eureka falls into that golden category also, Beth--and Marilyn Monroe is lovely in her own way also. Don't know quite what to say about a rose like Hot Romance however--it is a gorgeous rose, but I can't imagine it in my garden. Same with Granada and Dolly Parton and Playboy--absolutely breaktaking--but don't they dominate everything within 20 ft? Pat Austin too. I mean like, Wow!! aren't they just too, too stunning? I guess I incline more to roses like Cherish or The CoxSwain. Tammy, that sure is a nice photo of Memerized. Guess I'm going to have to work on my orange appreciation! Modestgodess, you have some beauties also, especially Summer Romance and First Crush! Anna, I think they are both good roses. I got Memorial Day last year, it's a bloomin' machine, and the fragrance is wonderful! I've always been fond of Bewitched, but I have to admit I've had trouble with mine recently, those lovely blooms make me not want to give up on it though, I've grown it since the early 2000's. and until about three years ago it was one of my favorites. Memorial Day is probably the better rose, but I do think my Bewitched can do better....See More

Kate, Iobelle is a Griffith Buck hybrid tea. He didn't introduce many HTs so they're rare and harder to find. It's a gorgeous rose! But if you're looking for a mini with those colors I do have a new one called Magic Show that looks like it.
