congrats to the max lucky you!! thats great.. I don't believe pink singapore goes dormant.I don't think any of the singapores go dormant, keep their leaves. .would like someone to come in to verify this. Mine is going to do a second bloom, am too delighted. Was in bloom when I bought it this spring, I finally found a strong one.

Personally when it hits about 50 morning temps, will bring mine in and put it in a warm window for the winter. Give it tiny drinks ea month.

Hi Christy,

Congrats with the inflo on your Dwarf Singapore. You will love the flowers they smell wonderfull but strong. Just treat as you normally do. Do you feed the plant regularly like with liquid fertelizer when you're watering? As Karen says it will not go dormant unless you rip off the leaves it's an "Evergreen" Plumeria, you can also feel the leaves are kind of hard at least more than a regular Plumeria. It can take more cold than regular Plumerias and will continiue growing even under 50 F but lower it will stop. We are down to 60-50 F here at nights but it's still growing and putting out flowers from the first inflo and dividing into 5 new branches and starting to do a second blooming too like Karen's. These ones are from November 2007 and did grow a lot last winter. One got an inflo in April and is still putting out floers on that first inflo.

Hi Karen, sorry for the late reply but here are two pics. where you can see the small Singapores in the background. I'm beginning to bring them into the greenhouse not because it's too cold but we are entering the rainy season and they will get way too much water and will probably drown temps are 50 F at night and 60-65 F at day and they still have many flowers. There are more pics in here of them but you have to search for Barske and you will ind them in the inlays here and there or you can send me your email adress and I can send you pictures if you like.

Congrats! I'm also in MD and my non evergreen plumies are beginning to drop foliage. Our evening temps are in the low 40's. I'm not sure where in MD you are but I'm just outside of DC and it's one of the warmer parts of the state. I'd consider taking it inside and using grow lights so that it's receiving about 14 hrs of light per day. You can keep it outside during the day and take it in towards the evening for a few hours under lights and warm temps. I've had plumies bloom over the winter under lights but the colors are never as vibrant as they are outside and I use 1000 watt HID lights.

Thanks for the tip!! I did bring it inside, but I didn't put it under grow lights. I will now. And I'll put it out in the sun everyday if I can, too :) My other non-evergreen plumie has not started dropping leaves yet. I plan on giving it to my parents over Thanksgiving, they're going to plant it in the ground in Orlando. We have a move coming up early next year, I need to downsize! Good chance we are going to Miami, though, I think my Dwarf Singapore and Jades will love that!!! BTW, I'm in Laurel, MD. Christy :)

Love love all your pink singapore. Do you have any purply black spot on your plants? This one for me has a lot. It does not hurt the plant, but I cannot put it near any other, will catch it. This is my third one, lost other 2, that has really grown like one of your plants, a double branch one. I will bring it inside probably next month for the winter in a warm window. We don't get snow, but chilly plus wind and hitting the 40's soon, maybe cooler. hope not. I want this one to make it. Such cute plants, and yes, mine is going to bloom for the second time..so neat.

Now for singapore. I just am lost what to do with it, its 4' tall and that wide. Last year brought it outside too early in spring and got massive black tip and black spot..I don't know if I can cover it on my patio this fall or do I have to bring it in until MAY???

Hi Karen,

Yes I have purply black spots on my Pink Singapore and it's caused by some fungi that comes when it's too wet or himidt but it does not seem to harm the plant and I have not seen that it goes to other plants thought I have them standing very close. I think that species is born to have spots. Do you remember the inlay Prob. with evergreen... where Mary-Anne from Australia and I were discussing the problem. She simply ripped off all the leaves and left the inflos and later she cut it down and got nine cuttings that she gave away. I have one that devided into five branches and I took off two and they are putting out leaves right now and look very healthy.

I'm not really shure where you are but I guess it's CA. Maybe you should bring your Singapore up very close to your house at a south facing wall and first bring it in when it really gets too cold. One of my Celadines also got black tips this spring and I too thing it was too cold and brought it back in the greenhouse it was set months behind but it recovered and is now putting out at least 10 new branches. Are you able to get a little greenhouse? It would be good if you live a place where it can get too cold at night. I once lived in Anaheim Orange County and the climate there was great for Plumerias and people had big trees I remember and nobody brought them inside during winter. I have friends living near Hemet and they too need to bring the plants inside in the cold season.

If my plants are making too much problems in the winter I usually cut off all the leaves "usually January" and order them to go dormant and they go in the basement and they don't seem to mind as it's warm and nice down there it's also very bright with the windows all around.

I feel I cannot trust this plant to be near another plant..maybe can if it doesn't touch. Possible can be near another one..I tried taking off leaves, spraying, didn't work. Is healthy and leave it alone! ha..

I live in yes So. CA, but in an area that can get low 30 temps with rain and high winds..mostly in the 40's, no snow. But has froze..rarely, am in a Semi-Arid area. So pink singapore will join me in my studio where I paint until spring warmth. Celadine in the ground last fall, with cold temps and constant rain rotted, am now getting new cuttings. Others in the gound made it.. Hard to tell what will make it. I am going this year take inside my house new plants, and potted plants on my patio, covered..hope for the best.

Not far at all! I believe we've "met" at the Mid-Atlantic forum, and possibly at a SWAP. I went to the one last spring, with my husband and daughter and a Cherry Tree on top of the car. We'll only be here until next summer, though, we're being transferred. Not sure where yet. Christy :)

I remember that car! lol You're right we did meet at Henrietta's house. Hopefully the transfer will be to somewhere warm year round!

Well I got back from Thanksgiving, and my inflo had turned brown, shriveled up and fallen over. No blooms this year :( The inflo was growing VERY slowly, so I can't say I'm really suprised. I'll bet it had something to do with how cold it has been. It is inside, but the house can get cold. Christy
