I've had this paniculata for a couple of years and have been debating whether I should chop it or not. Last week I was brushing up on my bonsai styles while making a few pots and had an idea. Literati style, 4in pot that I made curious, Did your unknown plant flower yet? if so what color are the flowers? this my ventricosus It's hard to make judgment on species by appearance because of it being grown under artificial light. It could very well be ventricosus but the foliage doesn't match. Another possibility is grandiflora as it tends to branch at the base also. Here's an unknown of mine that looks similar but it doesn't branch at the base.

Tracy, It sounds like your neighbor has a nice tree growing there. Just so you know, the early crop is referred to as the breba and the late crop is referred to as the main crop. Another way of thinking about it is that the breba crop grows on the wood formed from last year's growth, while main crop figs grow on the wood formed this year. I'm new to Arizona, but have been told by a couple of long time Arizona fig growers that in this climate some fig trees will pump out figs almost all year long. As far as ripeness goes you can look at pictures posted on this forum to see what a ripe fig looks like when it is picked. The color of the fig will depend on the variety. But usually figs will change color, swell up in size, become very soft and droopy looking, and will have cracks in their skin when they are ripe. Many figs will also form a drop of honey in the eye opening at the tip of the fig. Good luck with your harvest. Joe

Thanks for the info. I buy my mealworms at Southeast Insectaries for $38 and change (includes shipping) for 5,000 large and they do a great job shipping. They include an icepack in the shipping container when the weather turns hot. I keep the worms in a 2" high 6X10 platic container with several holes in the lid. I also tie a small sponge under the lid and keep it damp. I use wheat or oat bran I buy at the Feed Store as bedding for the worms. I only take them out at about 3 weeks and place several slices of apple or potatoe on the top and leave them out of the frig for the day (I'm always sure to remove any apple or potatoe pieces before I return them to the frig so they will not rot). That is the only extra feeding I do and they last until gone.

Thanks Laura and Hendo13. I may be ahead of myself this year, since some of my plants are at the same stage as this one. I had checked a couple of months ago and noticed its root system was disturbed, so I had packed it back down good and tight. This is a tree I have had for at least 5 years now. Fertilized the same as all 30+ plumeria that I have. Laura, it sounds like the one you described. I am tempted to cut all the tips, and unless things don't improve within the next month, I may do that. Since it has always been a very robust plant, and heavy bloomer, last years strange growth (or lack of) concerned ms! My other 2 plants from the same tree are doing fine! They were the second plants to broom this year, second to my Lemon Yellow (C Star calls it Lemon Yellow wish I knew if it was called by another name elsewhere...strange big leaves with ripplinv edhes...tall grower and heavy bloomer). Anyway... I think I will continue with my usual fertilizing schedule and see if it progresses. Thanks for the reassurance. So far this year the following plants are blooming; Guilott's Sunset, Lemon Yellow, unnamed tree discussed, small yellow blossom, unnamed as well, Hawaiian Flag, Lipstick, and my most recently opened, one of my favorites, Intense Rainbow. 8 total so far.
